Does a registrar have the right to refuse to unlock a domain and provide auth codes so you can transfer out a few days past expiration date?

Yep. But it might help if you ask their support for help.

Yeah, did this already. They told me to renew and asked why I wanted to transfer. ($11.99 renewal fee when there's better options available for $8-9 is obvious)

Yes, enom dynadot many companies do this.

Goes to show I never bothered to dabble with enom/dynadot in my years investing and the two I never used are the two that also do this.

You can add eWallHost to that list.

Thanks for the replies.

Dynadot have never refused to unlock the expired domain or refused for me to obtain the auth code. I've had 100% success (of admittedly very few requests). Why would I want to transfer away from Dynadot? They are my preferred Registrar.
