What is the transfer process for selling a .co.uk domain, registered at GoDaddy, to another person through Sedo? Does it require changing information through nominet or can you simply change accounts through GoDaddy ? I ask because I recently sold a name and have no idea how to start this transfer. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

A similar question was asked a while back and replied to by NP user FitLike? I think that is the name):

"To properly transfer a .co.uk you need to log in to the nominet.org.uk website and
initiate the transfer. A transfer costs £11.50 inc VAT which can be paid either by the
buyer or the seller. Unless the transfer is made directly through nominet, then it is
void...

Many registrars, including enom, moniker and slowdaddy will allow you to push "uk"
names... but this does not make it a legal registrant transfer.. the domain will remain
the original owners property..

The ONLY way to make a legal registrant transfer of a UK domain is via nominet, and someone
has to pay the transfer fee.

If you own a UK domain, you can easily push it to someone else, but you are still the
legal owner until the name drops, or the transfer fee is paid.

I'm a nominet registrar, that's why I know this stuff "

Thanks for the response. So would it work/make sense to push the name through GoDaddy first (the non-official method) just for the sake of getting the Sedo transfer over with, and then after I receive the money do an "official" transfer (without the help of Sedo) through Nominet to finalize it?

As I have not done so, I cannot properly answer that question. That may be sufficient for sedo, but I do not know for sure. Best to contact sedo. I could not find a quick answer to your questions on the nominet site.
In any case, it would not be a legal transfer until it is done through nominet.org.uk, and it is my understanding that the new "owner" would not have complete control until the change is made through nominet.
