That is a little bit of a broad question, maybe if you shed a little more light we would be more helpful? Are you asking in general or are we speaking about a specific domain name? If it is the latter the actual name might help. Have you already bumped into legal troubles with it (if yes - what kind)?

Generally speaking, you can check trademarks here:

FYI, a simple trademark search doesn't guarantee that you won't have issues. But is a very good start. Other facts can come into play with something called common law rights (look it up). But as long as you are trying to avoid registering a trademarked name is a step on the right direction. Best bet is to go generic and still there might be issues with that believe it or not. Key is to register first, make good use of the domain and avoid creating confusion in the marketplace. With all that said, you could still get slapped with a UDRP. Yep, the system is broken. Go off to register your domain name. And when you need it get legal advice from an attorney in this field. Those simple rules should help you stay out of trouble.

Who cares? I'm tired of people reggin names then coming to ask if they have trademark issues.... If you were worried about the domain having trademark issues... Why did you reg it in the first place?

Well, you cared enough to comment, he he.

Not everyone knows any better, which is why they ask. At least they find out sooner rather than later — more so the hard way as others have.

To be technically accurate the thread starter never said that he registered the domain, he just said "my domain" and that can also be a reference to a domain that they desire. Or they registered it a long time ago and just now face any issues with trademark that they want to check. There are really a lot of scenarios and with the little information shared I think its too harsh to judge in such a manner ;)
