This list of "wasted" domain names is compiled from succeedwiththis.

The blog seems to be down because it was Dugg. I tried to locate this list on NP but could not.

I don't know if parked = wasted but, oh well:


1) Cool.com
PageRank: Unranked
Alexa: Over 350,000
This domain is simply parked.

2) Hot.com
A single page with nothing on it except a lame colored logo. The sky is the limit for a domain like this.

3) Porn.com
PageRank: Unranked
Alexa: Unranked
This one is parked too but has a cool design. I’m guessing it’s making decent money, but no where near what a domain of this weight can bring in. Any regular developed porn site attached to this domain could make the profits hit the roof.

4) Sexy.com
After being presented with a warning page of enter or exit, the only thing you see next is a parked page.

5) Alien.com / 6) Ufo.com
These two can be put in the same category. With all the talk about aliens and ufo’s, these domains can be instant success.
Instead, Alien.com is a 404 page!!
And Ufo.com just a parked page.

7) Toy.com
PageRank: 0
Alexa: Over 3 million
An amazing 3 letter domain! Yet just another parked page.

8 ) Pal.com
Some sort of weird and unpopular search engine. Another great 3 letter domain put to waste.

9) Queen.com
Parked

10) Oral.com
Parked

11) Crazy.com
Parked. Could easily be used to feature all sorts of crazy videos or stories.

12) Pro.com
Wow! What can I say. A 403 forbidden! Some people would do anything just to have the word pro in front of another word in their domains, like proplayer or propoker…This person has the 3 letter by itself, and doing nothing!

13) Cash.com
PageRank: Unranked
Alexa: Over 2 million
Just parked.

14) Card.com
Parked for some credit cards. Could be used for a gambling site or a developed credit card site.

15) Super.com
Parked

16) Store.com
This thing could be something similar to eBay or Amazon, but it is just parked.

17) Cloth.com / 18) Clothing.com
Each of them could be the central location for anything related to clothing, but just parked.

19) Personal.com
A great domain for a dating site or personal resource information site, but parked.

20) Join.com

21) Fight.com

Anything about boxing and UFC and mixed martial arts can be discussed here and it would easily be the #1 reference on the subject.

One of them parked, the other one slightly developed. In the mortgage world, these domains can make more profit than anything else.

Acquired for 1.3 million dollar and seems fully developed. However, a domain like this carries so much power that it is ridiculous it is not more popular.

A 2 letter domain! Seems like an unsuccessful hosting company. This is the only 2 letter domain in this list, and man this is wasted.

zonk.com PR5 - A mere informational site. It lets you know that Zonk is the name of a pot smoking game. Okie.................- Yes wasted domain to say the least. lol

It will be worth 2 to 3 times more than that for end users. Many of those names there are consumables like toy, cloth, so on.

Mobile.com was showing a 404 page for months, looks like it just got renewed late last month and is now pointed to At&T

OVT with extension 2377 (in January 2007)

Imagine the wasted traffic on that one ...now that was a waste !

Being a country domain thats probably one of the biggest wastes I have ever seen.....what a shame IMO - At least a parking page does offer its visitors something.

IMO, and I know it's an unpopular one, parked pages generally should be used only until you can get something going development-wise... granted these might do well parked, but almost without exception, I think they'd do better developed..

In my opinion all "parked" domains are a waste. But some of these domains are just too good... I wouldn't want to sell it for a zillion dollars to someone who would put it to good use, but I wouldn't want to be lazy and park it either. Perhaps I could form a partnership or hire some employees to develop the domain into a real website.


Also the pal . com is parked, just more cleverly. Type in anything and the result is a relevant parked page.

A waste to some, a gem to another. I like it because it is NOT parked. It is merely someones personal website. What about http://sloths.org ? Would you rather look at pictures of sloths or a bunch of sponsored links? I can't think of any sloth-relevant ads that could be displayed.

As the Internet was created for: filling your head with useful information, not your pockets with ad revenue. Not everyone on the Internet is looking to purchase something. All of my websites are free of advertising. All of the websites I visit (with the exception of giants like Google and Amazon) are likewise free of ads. It disappoints me to see so many nice names parked.

Although I would rather the domain belong to say, the German government, at least it is owned by a German. I know I wouldn't want my country's name parked (I live in the United States of America, and with such a long name, most variations are parked. But I would imagine Germany's English name isn't as big of a deal in Germany, except for tourism. Similar to Estados Unidos not mattering much in the US (or should I say EE UU?))
