How does .tk offer it's own domain tld for free?

To get the free domain name, you have to have an existing webpage. It HAS to be up and running.

They also have a paid option and some others that you can read about at the link provided.

tk was a good option before .be domains, now i think be domains are better becasue is a real domain and no adds

.BE are free for only a year. After that you have to renew for real money

I really don't like .TK domains since their ads are horrible. I would rather pay just the $7.00 to register a domain and have no ads on it. Also it would be mine to play around with lol

The biggest issue with all the .tk talk is that people don't realise that you don't actually get the domain for free, but rather you agree to a leasing contract (sponsored domain contract might be another way to describe it). The truth about the FREEDOMAIN.TK leasing:

- You only lease the domain. You do not have any legal ownership rights to it, except to use it in accordance to the policies defined by the user agreement. Neither are you listed in the WHOIS data as the registrant.
- You must have traffic to your website. If you fail to have at least 25 visitors per every 3 months, the domain lease will expire.
- Before the domain redirects to your website, it shows a black page with an ad and opens a pop-up ad.
- You can actually aquire a normal .tk domain. There's several accredited resellers besides DotTK and their PAIDDOMAIN.TK, which is the name of their the regular .tk domains. Some however believe this isn't the case.

.tk is good but it does not worth any value. if u are registering the domain for free then u are not actually owning the domain on ur name they actually lease u the domain. Besides that there are lots of ads forced on ur page and u cannot even change the name server or anything u have only power of redirecting ur .tk domain to ur some existing sub domain.

I dont think .tk is good because of their ads. Better get .be domains.

.tk is as real as .Be ,and any other ccTLD for that matter.

Anyhow, a lot of other ccTLD's are essentially leased as well.
I live in Australia ,all .au ccTLD's have no Ownership rights.

I thought you could close your ads with some options(some years back when I use .tk)
Anyway, poor guys or guys not having credit card will use .tk and develop them(most of the times), in such time it would be cool if you buy a .tk which was developed! You may earn something from Parking!
