How does a place like .tk get their own extension like they do?

Was just curious.

And hey since I asked a dumb question, why not throw up another dumb question.

Even though .TK are free and have adds, if you had a good enough domain registered with them (poker.tk , casino.tk, ect...), do ya think anyone would be willing to ever pay for something like that?

Doesn't really matter even if they are free as they are potentially of no use to people from other parts of the world

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

.tk is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tokelau.

Tokelau gives most domain names under .tk away to anyone for free. Free domains are pointed to Tokelau nameservers, which redirect HTTP traffic via HTML frames to a specified web page, and redirects 5 email addresses to external addresses. Because of this use of redirection, use of free .tk domains for other services (such as hosting servers for other protocols such as FTP and IRC, or creating hostnames and subdomains within them) is not possible.

To be able to use one's own nameservers, or get a "special" .tk domain name, for example, trademark domain names for most Fortune 500 companies, the user must buy it. Paid domain names start at $9.95 per year.

They're rubish anyway. If you want free forwarding, your better off with http://joynic.com with their us.tt and uk.tt and .co.uk.tt etc

.tk domains can be used by first time users of the Internet but with domains prices below 10$/year is there no point in having a free .tk domain. They might be free but you will also have to live with the terrible ads and only be able to use the domain as a redirect.

casino.io just sold for $6,300
casino.sc was sold for $2,xxx

casino.xx will probably do well regardless of the extension.

.com's used to be free back when NameZero came out, along with NameDemo

:p

poker.anything = money;
casino.anything = money;

The world of casino affiliates is so competitive nowadays that you need a good domain to survive.

If you pay $10 a year for .tk, they don't put ads on.

Most people would want .tk just to get the short-names for themselves (for example if namepros.com/net/org etc. were taken, they'd get namepros.tk)

That's the only reason I can think of, considering the amazingly low price domains are being sold/resold nowadays..
