Thoughts on "E" in front of Keyword/Pure Geo Domain

I would be interested to hear the community's thoughts on domain names that have an "e" (or an "i") in front of a keyword, or an "e" in front of a city. I know that some e+keyword have sold for large amounts of money, as the "e suggests online or electronic, but is this a sit and wait, and wait, and wait type of situation (even more so than most domains)? And does it matter what the keyword is? Any thoughts would be welcomed.

I think e/i prefixes only work with single word, singular domains (ipad vs ipads for example). If the word is a geo/city, then it needs to be developed to have much value. They generally would not be intrinsically valuable on their own. Of course there will always be exceptions. As to the word itself, it should be a noun.

I think they have fallen out of favor to some extent, kind of a backlash from circa 2000 when everything seemed to be e- this or i- that. The keyword is absolutely critical, IMO. We still have email (or e-mail) and the iPad/iPhone, of course, so things along that line or maybe ebulletin as an example are still hot ticket items, I think.

Agree about geos, not a good fit. Nouns are great, but IMO so are verbs, like iDeliver, and don't forget about iReport (which could be either one, actually).

"e" would be fine if it was an eCity name, but something like eNewYorkCars doesn't even make sense ino....

thanks everyone. This is very helpful. I was thinking about e (city) (and a domain I thought about buying), but agree that it does not sound as great as e (non city noun), or e (verb). Thank you again everyone for your input.

I think they're ok. "e"mail and "e"commerce are proper words now. I have eHelmetCam.com for selling helmet cams.

That name you listed above seems to have a nice ring to it. I have the opportunity to buy a geo city with the "e" in front of it, but I do not know what to do with it. the pure geo monthly search is over 100,000 (of course not with the "e" in front of it), but that is why I am considering it. But from the points made here, it seems that products and certain words go much better with "e" or "i" in front.

How many monthly searches does the ecity have?

I think "e" domains are great. There super brandable and have a lot of sales to back up there value.

My "e" domain ePreorders.com has got a lot of recent interest.

I have a domain like that: eMaidstone.co.uk and e-Maidstone.co.uk (bought it to protect the main one).

... I live in Maidstone, UK myself - so, I'm still trying to make it work (have set up a local community forum).

still struggling with it :/ ... although, have to admit, that I haven't invested too much time not efforts in it neither :D :D

.. but the plan is to develop it into an authority site and to open few "closed" local doors, instead of making a quick sale.

Helmuts
