Firstly, check the whois, someone else probably grabbed it.

Check the name servers for the domain at dnsstuff.com to have an idea which service got it, it could be a taster

One way to avoid that happening is , once you have backordered the name, in the snap control panel take a look at the whois and see who it is registered with. Then double check that the register is one of snapnames partners - if not then find out who is and place a backorder there.

I just lost out on MediaBoy.com tonight because I forgot to check it

Registrar: ENOM415 INCORPORATED
Whois Server: whois.eNom415.com
Referral URL: http://www.eNom415.com
Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Status: ok
Updated Date: 16-feb-2007
Creation Date: 16-feb-2007
Expiration Date: 16-feb-2008

Is this a taster? The original date for the domain is 2002 but it seems like the domain really dropped.

Nay, it's a Club Dropper. Looks like eNom grabbed the domain, and it should update with the owner's information after a bit.

I went to this site: http://whois-search.com/deleting/who.php
and found out Namewinner is the place to backorder but Namewinner had passed all Dotster domains to Snapnames. But it seems like Snapnames failed many times in grabbing Dotster domain as mentioned by other member.

Gah found the domain sitting in Club Drop Private Auction now. DAMMIT shouldn't rely too much on Snapnames! 27 bidders in the private auction, i wonder if i can find someone inside to help me place bid.

Is it possible to join Club Drop private auction even if it started?

I always say, if you really want the domain, backorder it every place you can.

SnapNames.com
Pool.com
Enom.com
Moniker.com
etc......

Hope you can get in on the bidding ;)
