I moved a large amount of domains over to Name Drive last month.

I have been concerned that some of my higher traffic domains have not been receiving any clicks, such as BicycleSpoke.com and LyricBay.com

I just typed in "LyricBay" and "BicycleSpoke" and Google showed this message in the search results...

This IP has been bannedThis IP has been banned.
www.bicyclespoke.com/ - 1k - Cached - Similar pages

I just fired off to Ed at Name Drive, and he has replied within five minutes, with this message so if anybody else is receiving the same message here is the explanation.

Hi there,

Before you go off against Google, I think I need to say that this is not entirely their fault.
They have given us a way to implement our anti-spider policy to reduce risk from bots etc on our pages. It then turns out that this is exactly the same way that Google spiders pages, sometimes anything over 60 times an hour on one page - which seems mad to me. We complained to them and we last week received the IPs that they use to spider the pages. Because we have our anti-spider filter in place which blocks IPs if they hit a page too often within a certain time span, it is partly our fault that 'this IP has been banned' is displayed as Google have effectively told us how to block IPs spidering the page and then run exactly that kind of spider.
Last week we requested that they tell us the IPs which they are using so we can white-list them and this has now been done. The next time Google spider the domain, then this stupid message should be flushed off your domain.
I'm very sorry for this, but a solution is in place which will hopefully resolve it very soon.

Best regards,

Ed

At least you can count on 'Customer Service' at Name Drive.
Thanks Ed.

I don't know. I didn't get those messages at all.

If you try to figure out google you'll surely go insane. It's part of the search algo - to make you go insane.

Absolutely, why do you think gOOgle has those two big eyes in the middle of its name, one could surely end up crosseyed with cataracts.

Talking of In-sane did you see this thread yesterday? http://www.namepros.com/domain-appraisals/163725-justin-cc-rep-for-appraisal.html

I visited that thread. I don't see anything insane about it, except your post about how Justin is such a bad name for a person and most Justins get picked on in school.

I don't know where you're from but Justin isn't a funny name around my parts. I never heard of anyone being teased for having the name Justin. It's just as normal as Mike or Dominic.

I am either missing something or your are smoking something. If it is the latter, please send dsome along and I will pay you with NP$. ;)

Two of my domains at NameDrive have the same issue. Hope this is resolved soon. Not a good thing to have when a potential buyer google's the name.

It makes perfect sense to me..

Seeing as the domains have no real content on then i think its reasonable for them to block google. What is the point in google spidering thousands of pages which are exactly the same but for a few ad links, its just a waste of bandwidth. Your page isnt gonna ranks for anything on google so i dont see what the problem is.

Sure it's a problem, if someone Googles your domain and see's this I.P. is banned maessage it could ruin a sale.

If I knew a cheap lawyer I'd consider bringing legal action against Google, as I didn't submit the names to Google, I didn't ask for them to spider it, and it is a 'deformation of character' of the domain.

What makes you think that?

agree, 'this i.p. is banned' carries a nasty stigma usually associated with spammers.
