The word "Premium"

We need a new word for "Premium" when it comes to domain names. We'll find ourselves reading other threads filled with premium domain names and seeing something like wonderfulprettycolors.com or getsomejuice.com (no offense if these are yours). Or even Baba.com, hey it has premium letters. Some of us will post about our own "Premium" domains like these. It's a nice word, but it tends to get overused and almost has no meaning in the domain industry anymore.

So what new word can we use now to mean poker.com, slots.com, business.com, domaining.com, etc...?

When you see "premium" in a thread title you can expect to see premium crap :)

LOL true.
Someone can post a list of 100 domains and you can tell within the first 5 whether to even bother reading any further.

To add to the confusion in .mobi, "Premium" also indicates a domain name that was set aside by the registry

"Premium .mobi" is an oxymoron.

A "premium" domain gets the tag when you get a legitimate $x,xxx and up offer on it :)

Premium also has a different meaning with .tv domains - it means premium renewal fees which can be hundreds or thousands of dollars a year. So .tv people actually like to advertise non-premium :)

I think "single word category killer" is a good alternative.
Its hard to lie about "single word" which would eliminate 90% of wannabe premiums.

Premium Domains Definition by David Taylor

Premium Domains.
"Defined By Results"

The word Premium literally means - having or reflecting superior quality or value. (wordnetweb.princeton.edu)

In view of this, a domain must meet at least 2 out of 3 value conditions in order be considered premium:

Value 1. Must be one of the following 'Top Level' Generic or Country Code Domains:

.COM
.NET
.ORG
.DE
.EU
.CO.UK

This information is based on 'DNJournal YTD Sales Chart' & Sedo's Quarterly Sales Chart

Value 2. Must have Marketability - meaning 'in demand by consumer audience; salable' This applies to service and products.(free dictionary) The total 'Keyword Trend' must be greater than 60% world-wide saturation. Based on Google Insight

Value 3. Must have a search volume of at least 300,000 or CPC of $4.00 or more; Based on New Google Adwords.

*If your domain meets 2 of the 3 requirements, more than likely, it would be considered a premium domain.
