It's not an offense that can be easily criminalized or penalized, much like other forms of discrimination and harassment. My understanding is that there would have to be a clear intent to repeatedly discriminate against a person by refusing to use their self-identified pronoun.

Where's the evidence that it's mental confusion? You could argue that any feelings about our own identity are mental confusion.

You need to understand that gender is not sex. Gender isn't a black and white physically identifiable characteristic of a person. It's no more or less than who they feel that they are. Who are you (or anyone) to tell them they can't feel that way?

I would read up on it a lot more if I were you. I used to feel similar to you, but when I informed myself I changed my mind.

Homosexuality is maladaptive in the regard that few pass on their genes yet it can also be adaptive, for example, with outlier correlates of intelligence and investing at the group level.

Two of my favorite examples are Douglas Murray and Derren Brown, both of whom are group selected geniuses in my estimation - doing their part to elevate group fitness - (both from the UK). Both are homosexual but not promoting their sexuality at the group level (which would be maladaptive).

Further, homosexuality is normed in the natural world.

this is an astute point. Self-identifying as male player character with a focus on philosophy, science and mathematics - I am interested in the world around me and the how's and why's of things.

Psychology shows I am an outlier and most people don't move beyond the what of things, like you.

When I learned this I became more tolerant. Biodiversity, variation and nature is what it is.

Problem is, when bigots with maladaptive ideas seek to curtail the freedoms of others and when moral totalitarians like you, "All that matters is that they do feel that way" - have the nerve to tell others 'all that matters tripe'. No regard for biodiversity, truth, reason and logic.
