Genesis 2:7
“And the lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Man was not a living soul until the form received the breath of life. That’s very clear from that passage.

Prior to the first breath and after the last, the body is an empty vessel. A fetus is a human life “under construction” that becomes a person when it takes its first breath.

In Moses’ laws there is no reference to abortion, but there’s this passage about miscarriage:

Exodus 21:22-25
“If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth . . .”

So if he causes a miscarriage he is fined but If he kills the woman he gets the death penalty.

Just a fine for causing a miscarriage. No eyes, no teeth...

The Bible is a sprawling mass of ancient writings that is full of contradictions and has been translated and retranslated many times over. I’m sure the talibangelicals have a list of passages that they believe contradict these, but going back to the OT it’s completely VALID to claim that, per the Bible, life begins at first breath.

There are no contradictions in the Bible when items are considered in context. Written by multiple authors, zero contradictions.

Life began at first breath for Adam because he was not born, he was created outside the womb. The Bible is clear, life begins in the womb.
