OK, this got me started thinking. This is a question I've never pondered before.
For those that are anti-abortion, what are your thoughts on a close family member in a coma/permanent vegetative state with no expectations for recovery?
Should the other family members be allowed authjorize the removal of life support devices or should the individual be required to remain on life support and receive any and all additional medical care necessary (at what ever the cost) to keep the organs functioning until they are no longer able to continue?
I am pro choice, mentioned before. Up to 3 months only like EU laws.
This is a personal decision, but taxpayers shouldnโt subsidize vegetables in hospitals. But I can only assume with the idiocy, there will be plenty who advocate such and taxpayers pay the bill. Huge drain on resources that could be used on viable people instead.
Intelligent People usually plan ahead and instruct their loved ones. Some have living trusts and medical instructions with a document called and the instruction called DNR. Do not resusitate.
I have had to deal with this once already, it isnt easy to whisper in the ear of a loved one dying as to whether they want to increase the morphine drip and risk shutting down their heart rate and then expiring. The reply I received was a nod of the head, not a word spoken and this was the last gesture before death.
But what got me was the attitude. Unionized asshole nurses sat on their fat asses and required me to break the news. What a lovely experience. They called me a few hours later to return after death and these same lazy nurses didnโt even have the decency to lift the arms up and cross them on the chest before regamortis set in. That was Californiaโs private healthcare with great insurance too.
Wait til medicare for all socialized medicine comes, nobody will give a shit about anyone else and care will be govt rationed with all the floods of nonpaying, noncitizens and those people overusing and abusing the system.
