โ300 people are dying from heroin overdoses a week in this country, 90% of it is coming over the southern borderโฆ Weโve got to stop it.โโ@KellyannePolls
1) Most of that 90% is coming in through the ports and at
legal entry points. If you want to stop it from coming in, start there.
2) How is a wall, that will take years or more to build (including eminent domain battles in court), going to address an immediate problem?
2a) Drones go over walls and fences. Tunnels go under them.
3) Letโs step up drug education and treatment programs in
this country!
Most people
choose to take these drugs (initially, because once youโre addicted itโs no longer a real โchoice.โ)
4) People who donโt use donโt die of an overdose.
Iโve been given prescriptions for drugs in this class after dental procedures. I go home and rip them up.
OTOH, someone whoโs an addict will get it somewhere, somehow,
5) Doctors who prescribe or start treating in a hospital (where patient had little choice in their meds) need to monitor and follow up with their patients better. Get them off of it as soon as they can, prescribe safer alternatives.
6) Medicinal marijuana may be an alternative for some chronic pain.
Like what Iโve said about immigrants: You wonโt eliminate a problem unless you address the
source of the problem.
If life wasnโt so miserable in northern triangle countries, these people would stay home.
If you keep people OFF opioids, those people wonโt die of an OD.
If you reduce the demand for opioids, the market would dry up and smuggling wouldnโt be as profitable.
In other news, sanctions on Putinโs friend Deripaska weโre quietly lifted yesterday afternoon. Did they think no one would notice? Big mistake.
