The other countries have much shorter borders and less complex terrain. barring the Great Wall of China, and I don’t think we’re going to replicate that! And I certainly hope nobody’s planning on putting land mines on the border!

Some issues:

• Expense and complexity of building across a long, contiguous expanse of highly varying terrain.
• Building a wall at locations with extremely low probability for crossings - necessary?
• Water on both sides. Most contraband arrives in this country by sea.
• Are we going to man the entire length? If not, what’s to keep people from breaching the unmanned sections?
• Or will we monitor with smart tecnhnology? If so, maybe that’s a feasible option or adjunct to a physical barrier to begin with?
• We don’t have a horde of illegal immigrants storming out borders. See my earlier link - illegal border crossings are already down and falling.
• Impact of physical barrier construction on the local ecosystem. Everything affects everything else.

The wall is being driven by 45s ego, not common sense. Surely that money can be put to better use.

But other countries didn't land on the moon 50 years ago... if fact ... NEVER.

So many excuses for NOT building the wall! If Obama had suggested it, you would have ZERO issues.

If Americans can't build a bloody wall, then sub-contract the Israelis. In fact, here in Madeira Island we have firms that have a lot of experience in building all kinds of infrastructure on very rugged terrain!!
Here's an example: our airport... half of the runway was built on reclaimed land from the sea...

And if you want it done even cheaper... call on the Chinese... even though they may not do a lasting wall like their own...

LOL... Indeed. I had forgotten about that one: the "Castelo dos Mouros" Built by the Moors (Muslim invaders in the Iberian Peninsula) and retaken during the Crusades. I've been there once only, about 20 years ago. On the other hand I've been to the nearby, beautiful "Palácio da Pena" at least 3-4 times.

This picture below shows both... Castelo dos Mouros is on the right of picture. Sintra is a treasure trove of beautiful palaces, castles, majestic homes and a beautiful forest!!!

Anyone who visits Lisbon, MUST visit Sintra...

Read an article today thanking GWB for staying at Camp David until a day after Christmas so everyone else, journo's, police, secret service, etc. could spend Christmas with their families. Journalist could then take their kids to TX on the provide plane for $100 each.

Obama nixed the plane for journalist and spent every Christmas in Hawaii.

Why don't you worry about your own borders in Portugal and we will worry about ours her in the USA.

If you really want a say about what goes on here in the US, then move here and become an American citizen and vote, otherwise you really don't have a voice here.
