I had already read the items you quoted, thank you very much for suggesting that, and saw the examples. The nuns were not forced to buy contraceptives for themselves or forced to use them. In this case, they were functioning as employers with employees of a different faith.

You do know that a lot of people take the pill for medical reasons other than birth control, right? Like endometriosis? (A very common and extremely painful condition.)

Letโ€™s say they were Jehovahโ€™s Witnesses - should they have been able to deny their employees coverage for a blood transfusion? What about a business run by Christian Scientists? Where does it end?

Using your religious beliefs as an excuse to discriminate against certain groups or avoid providing benefits for employees of a different faith is bigoted in itself and yes, itโ€™s self indulgent. Doesnโ€™t matter what religion you profess to follow. Some seem to want to turn this country into a nation of whiners.

Christians in this country have and still do enjoy a lot of privilege - Iโ€™ve never seen or experienced anything Iโ€™d consider an attack on Christian beliefs. But there are some so called Christians who donโ€™t put much stock in the 2nd greatest commandment who seem to view everything someone else does that they disagree with as an attack.

Weird because the Supreme court agreed with them, not you. ( It's not really weird, your just another entytled white liberal )

A lot of people aren't 60+ year old Catholic nuns. Again, forcing them to pay for coverage that contains abortion pills or contraceptives because YOU want something isn't covered by the Bill of Rights.

Letโ€™s say they were Jehovahโ€™s Witnesses - should they have been able to deny their employees coverage for a blood transfusion? What about a business run by Christian Scientists? Where does it end?

Your stupid strawmen are burning, maybe you should google something new to copy and paste.

If you don't like you employer's coverage, buy supplemental insurance or find another job.

The idea that you have the right to DEMAND your employer purchase coverage he or she would find objectionable is the perfect example of liberal selfishness.

Tell it to Protestant and Catholic charities that have been blocked from providing adoption and foster care because they won't endorse LGBTQ.xyz values.

Liberal regressive: Christians have so much privilege.

Also liberal regressive: You're religion is nonsense, do as your told.

Here's a nice positive story, Lebron James just opened the I Promise School in his hometown, looks nice from the pics - https://twitter.com/search?q="LeBron James"&src=tren&data_id=tweet:1024042603010908160&lang=en

I went to various public schools and some of them just kind of sucked. Then I went to a few DODDS schools - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Department_of_Defense_Dependents_Schools

They were easily better.

I think it's embarrassing the shape of a lot of our public schools.

Charter School! Good for those kids.

Magic Johnson did a lot for his neighborhood too, created a lot of jobs.

Charter School! Good for those kids.

Magic Johnson did a lot for his neighborhood too, created a lot of jobs.

They're saying it's not a charter school:

"On Monday, Jamesโ€™ new I Promise School in Akron, Ohio opened, a public school (not a charter school) that will have an enrollment of 240 third- and fourth-grade students in its inaugural school year. James was on hand and spoke publicly for the first time since his departure for L.A., but on Monday he reminded everyone that heโ€™ll always be Akronโ€™s son and explained why this is so important to him and the community."

-----------

"It's a part of the Akron School District. It is NOT a charter school. It is NOT a private school."

----------

LeBron James opened a public school in Akron for at-risk kids
https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/7/30/17629560/lebron-james-i-promise-school-akron

----------

How did LeBron start his own public school?
In November 2017, the LeBron James Family Foundation approached the Akron school board about assisting in the creation of a school designed to help at-risk kids who are lagging behind in their studies and struggling at home.

Still reading on it. Does read like a charter school but they're all calling it public, have to read more. So we have:

pubic schools
charter schools
magnet schools
private schools
home schooling

Anyway, I'm sure it will do great. Well funded, lots of support for students and family.

Ah - "him paying for the college education of all the kids who complete the programs,"

Pays for their college education as well. Impressive.

Giuliani: "No one can be sure of anything".
Kellyanne Conway: "alternative facts".
Trump: "don't believe what you are seeing or reading".

Getting the pattern here? If you believe these Orwellian con jobs then you don't know when you are being played.

THERAPISTS SEEING PATIENTS WITH TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME
Therapists around Washington, D.C., are noticing a sharp increase in patients describing symptoms of what has been called Trump Derangement Syndrome.

โ€œThere is a fear of the world ending,โ€ said DC Counseling and Psychotherapy Center founder, Elisabeth LaMotte, referring to some of President Donald Trumpโ€™s decisions. โ€œItโ€™s very disorienting and constantly unsettling.โ€

strong 4.1% growth under Trump in Q2 of 2018 would rank as 5th strongest Q of Obama presidency

(Some people are triggered again. Personal insults flying in response to a post which only voiced an opinion and asked some questions. As always.)

This โ€œtask forceโ€ smacks of certain Christian groups trying to portray themselves as victims when theyโ€™re not. I suspect itโ€™s a bone being thrown to Pence (who signed Indianaโ€™s controversial RFRA ) for loyalty.

Technically my Jehovahโ€™s Witness example wasnโ€™t straw man, it was slippery slope. And my other question about creating a โ€œchurchโ€ in order to establish certain rights was valid - the cabnabis Church I cited was an example of that.

We already have laws against burning down a mosque (โ€œarsonโ€) and against discriminatory real estate practices. OTOH, if a privately run business doesnโ€™t want to run religious content in their publication, they shouldnโ€™t be forced to. That infringes on the rights of the business, not the would be advertiser.

Secular laws protecting consumers and employees from discrimination take precedence. That includes women, minorities (including minority religions and non-religious persons) and LGBT. We have laws about insurance coverage for employees in companies over a certain size. The way insurance works, everyoneโ€™s premiums go to pay for some things theyโ€™ll probably never use or need. Itโ€™s what makes the system work.

Now if we implement Medicaid for all, then problem solved. Just sayin...

BTW, the Christian religion I was raised in would never be blocked from providing adoptions or foster care because they donโ€™t discriminate against people.

So I assume you would be OK if that business chose not to run content promoting birth control, transgender events, etc. The same principle applies. The same principle would also apply to a cake shop that chooses not to write Happy Wedding Day Mike and Bob on their cake.

I am OK with you either way, but if there is no consistency in application of rights, they are not rights at all.

Annual GDP never rose 3 percent under Obama according to data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The highest yearly change recorded was 2.9 percent in 2015.

This "opinion" by Max Boot from WaPo was written to incite fear. This is why people shouldn't trust the media.

This is nuts: Trump admin is allowing anyone with a 3D printerโ€”including felons, terrorists, and the mentally illโ€”to make an untraceable plastic gun.

3-D-printed guns put carnage a click away

1) DOJ lost a lawsuit, they have no choice to let these blueprints be published.

2) Blueprints to make guns have been available on the Internet since the beginning.

3) People have been making guns in the USA since the beginning.

4) You can't print a complete gun. You have to mill or buy some metal parts.

I know and under Trump, the highest so far is 2.3% for 2017. He's got 3 more chances to beat him.
