So I can receive some hate mail christmas cards.... my 2 cents are to Defund and Evict the UN from NYC, Defund NATO, Renegotiate on all external Debt to reduce to 1% fixed interest non compounding and repayment extend it 50 years, Put same trade embargoes that exist on Russia and Venezuela on China. No more asian imports, including Japan, Korea and China, Issue No more H1 whatever visas, make Google, Apple, etc move out physically to where they are dodging taxes, Implement a 1 year waiting period and background check 100% funded by all ME countries visa applicants themselves, end all migration prrograms from all countries unless they have $100k cash to bring in and to invest and are skilled labor and necessary, Send the nukes into Rocketman. Make all persons 15-18 work after school 3-7pm at menial entry level jobs like washing dishes, mowing lawns etc. to learn what work ethic really means. 10 year prison sentences for cellphone usage while driving and in an auto accident.

The Amtrak crash is a perfect example of why sometimes we NEED regulations to rein in corporate interests.

This wasn't "crumbling infrastructure", it was brand new track. They started running trains even though the safety feature that would have prevented the crash (the same feature the lack of which was responsible for at least 2 other serious accidents) wasn't in operation yet.

People died and suffered life changing injuries because gov gave in to corporate interests and decided not to "require" this feature to be operational until 2018. This was a KNOWN issue and the accident was preventable.

Awful.

Could better track design have prevented the Washington train crash? You bet it could!

In a new bypass designed to speed the trip, there is no excuse for designing and constructing a 30 mph curve immediately after an 80 mph straight section.
A higher-speed curve or a gradual reduction in speed by steps over several miles is far less likely to be missed than the sudden change that was present.

From looking at this picture of the curve where the train jumped off the tracks, it's more than obvious this was a badly designed section.

But what's amazing is how the train engineer or whatever you call him/her, didn't slow down the train prior to reaching that curve.

He was either not paying attention or didn't know the track well enough.

WOW.... Great Post. Do you realize that you could become a serious Presidential Candidate with this program?

Did you read the article I posted? There's a safety feature - Positive Train Control - that would have slowed the train. It was installed but not operational yet.
They shouldn't have been taking passengers until it was fully operational.

Mine wasnt. Brought in a small amount from Spain last year, fully sealed and packaged and the airport customs saw it on an Xray and grabbed and said wasnt allowed. Did not give me the law or reason. i have never seen it is stores either. I was in transit too and never left the airport to enter the states. I could be wrong. I knew I forgot to remove the oranges and produce I understand was a mistake but Jamon? Packaged?

The Pata Negra Pigs are found in herds in Spain and Portugal. Their color is black or dark grey, they have no hair and are left out in the open fields. For that reason they never get fat because of their roaming around the fields eating various types of acorns thus making their meat so much tastier than that of other pigs.
