1). "Orphan / children of the State" generally do not have "parents on social programs"
2). I was raised in the largest orphanage in the US, dubbed 'The City of Youth", as it housed up to 18,000 kids and was mostly self-contained, so I know first-hand, from a large sampling, over years research.

Originally built for orphans of the Great Chicago Fire of 1883, 20 miles outside city limits, the suburbs grew-up around it -so it provides a 'natural lab' to compare how us orphans did against the upper-middle class to wealthy kids we went to High School with.

In short, the most successful alumni in virtually every graduating class is an orphan. In my class, its not even close... as an orphan recently sold the company he built from scratch, w no loans, for over $200 Mil.

While Steve went into business, instead of college, the overall graduation rate, for orphans, is around 80%... But, conservative politics loves to publicly lynch all people on social programs using the ones that fail, or are 'average' ... as reasons to promote policies to make sure they are never born.

Good on you, and good on them; it sounds like, from the outside, many are contributing parties in society.

Maybe I used the wrong term "child of the state" as it references orphans who are orphaned because of their parents died or some other reason. What I meant by "child of the state" is a child growing up in a home paid by section 8, with presumably 1 parent, that qualifies for WIC, is receiving welfare and has an EBT card, and also receives thousands of dollars back in earned income credit when they file their taxes. When the state supports a family like that, burdening everyone else, they are a child/family of the state.

Had the father sold himself for $1000, generations upon generations would not be sucking the life out of this country. It's not an abortion either, it's killing the ability to reproduce, period. If someone would take $1000 for that now, years down the road, we would be in a hell of a better shape.

And, hell, bank their sperm while you're at it. If they want a vasectomy reversal when they can afford it and try to be a good parent, then they can do it. If the reversal doesn't work, their sperm has been banked for free, but they must pay for the invitro treatment as well.

Never gonna happen. But it should. It's population control that would work the finest.

I suspect this is a coordinated effort to introduce censorship, which is the traditional go-to technique of the political left when trying to silence opposition voices. Notice how Obama, Facebook and the whole media gang came out at the same time with the same term: fake news.

Strikes me as a set-up. First create an imaginary problem, the find a solution to the imaginary problem that also increases your hold on power. Starts with Facebook, Twitter and Google doing the censorship, since they sadly represent the reality that most people get.

I understand what you're saying, but its a distinction without a difference... as many welfare kids are "economic orphans" that go in and out of the 'foster care' system... and the State spends considerably more on orphanage kids than on welfare-family and foster care kids.

But your comments again illustrate my point... about justifying a 'prevention of life' policy based on an (emotional political) assumption, not facts. Merely saying "for the most part, they're underachievers" does not make it so.

Facts are, they over-achieve -and have a long history of it. Orphan, Jim Thorpe comes to mind. Still the only person to win two Olympic gold medals, and play pro football, baseball and basketball. He was voted the Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century.

In any case, its pretty clear facts don't matter much. Culture War politics drives conservative politics.
