The protests have been pretty peaceful, so I have no idea what you're talking about. And you're in Japan. What's amped up right now, are some of those White Nationalist types. We have a KKK endorsed President. Head on over to some White Nationalist site, celebration. There is a local FB community page, incidents happening in schools. Local dance, Build the Wall chants, some other racist stuff.

Hate begets hate, nothing good comes from using dangerous rhetoric. Trump just amped things up. We have people living in fear of getting deported. Stress, anxiety, marginalizing groups of people. Do you think good things are going to come from that?

And I don't think Trump will actually do that anyway. At that town hall he was actually asking the members what he should do and most said if they are here, productive, obeying laws etc, there should be a path.

Sure. I agree that the law abiding immigrants should be given residency, pending citizenship if they so choose.

But the illegals that cause crimes, even minor misdemeanors should face deportation.

Harsh? Hardly. Come to Japan as a tourist and cause disorderly conduct (drunk in public with police intervention) and see how quickly your tourist visa is revoked. We should follow suit with Japan and have the strictest standards to permanent residency; they don't just let anyone stay here forever if not naturally born. I could be kicked out after 50+ years if my wife dies before me.
