Trump, practical?

Doubt I need to reply, as you answered your own question a couple paragraphs down. Saying something and doing something are 2 different things - especially when the person saying it is a presidential candidate. They lie. All of them.

The scary ones are those who believe their lies and try to force their utopian ideas onto the real world. That's Pol Pot and Hitler territory. There is no evidence of any such commitment to dogma in Trump. He sees himself as the great deal-maker, so that's pretty much what we can expect him to do when he becomes president.

Four years down the line, the candidates will be far more extreme than they are this year. Eight years down the line, I shudder to think.

Funny stuff. Always interests me when writers completely lack introspection. "Manipulation and division, demagoguery and lies" are pretty much hallmarks of US politics recently. And most people seem fine with it, unless it's not their party in power.
