Saw the political discussion in the other thread and was again reminded of the differences between liberals and conservatives: For whatever reason, conservatives almost inevitably rely on name-calling, insults, and without a second thought and a complete disregard to civility. I found this comment particularly insulting: "Sometimes, you gotta give up. They're called libtard's for a reason. I don't know where they fact pull, but from a source worse than Wikipedia bar none. Then, they'll defend a fact with a fact they made up."
Despite having different political beliefs, there should still be a modicum of personal respect between people as human beings. However, lumping millions of people into a derogatory category of something as coarse and uncalled for as "libtard's" [sic] crosses the line of disrespect and insult that should not be present in the first place. Considering the ugliness of the intended usage and casual definition of "retard" shortened to "tard," it's just plain ugly and shows contempt and a lack of civility to a depth that's inexcusable.
