Republicans should leave those social issues alone, since they're views don't fall in line with the majority of Americans.

Your not being honest again JB, Fact is the overwhelming majority of the American people are in favor or regulating Abortion...

Marist Poll shows over near 80% in favor of restricting Abortion
http://hotair.com/archives/2014/01/...icans-favor-increasing-abortion-restrictions/

Fortunately most people find it unacceptable to kill a perfectly healthy baby after 20 weeks.. And unlike you JB, the majority of Americans are against late term abortion, the barbaric act of killing a healthy baby after birth just because it's Mommy's "choice' Is this where the term "Pro Choice" came from?

"Abortion doesn't make you "unpregnant" it makes you the Mother of a Dead Baby"

I couldn't find the specifics of the survey(s) that were being used in the article. What areas of the US were included? What percentages were female? What were the age groups? Median income? Education? Etc. And, no, I'm not trying to muddy the water; this kind of information for a "survey" is important, especially when some of the questions show results based on those demographics like "55 percent โ€” including 6 in 10 Millennials (adults 18 to 32) โ€” want continued debate on the abortion issue."

I do get skeptical of polls that use very subjective results like, "57 percent believe abortion does a woman more harm than good in the long run." What exactly does that mean?

It also bothers me that this was a survey commissioned by a Catholic religious group, The Knights of Columbus (who just happen to be completely against abortion), and it just happened to also find that, "On a related note, the survey also found that more than 7 in 10 Americans (71 percent) also believe that freedom of religion should be protected above government laws." This seems to be saying that freedom of religion (any religion, and all the trappings that accompany "freedom of religion") should be outside of the civil laws, or that religious beliefs and actions based on those beliefs aren't covered by any government laws . . . and that 70% of Americans approve that. I find that very hard to believe.

Hey, how many females are full members of the Knights of Columbus?

My response would be the same if a survey commissioned by Satanists showed one question with an answer that concluded that 70% of Americans drink a glass of blood once per week.

If you can't consider the obvious potential for a biased survey when they don't list all of the demographics, that's like the blind leading the blind.

The Republican/Libertarian/Tea Party economic preaching that a massive lowering of taxes across the board would help the economy, reduce unemployment, and generally make everything great has been proven wrong by the state of Kansas. In 2010, the new Republican governor, Sam Brownback, cut taxes for everyone, especially the rich and small business owners. To make a long story short, four years later, the Kansas economy is "in the shitter."

(In the meantime, California raised taxes in 2012 to deal with their budget/economic troubles, and they are doing very well.)

http://www.businessinsider.com/ranked-the-50-us-state-economies-2014-8?op=1

According to the clearly left-leaning link above, the Kansas economy is #25 in the US, and the unemployment rate is among the lowest at #14 (4.9%). If it were a Democratic governor, those same news sources would be praising the economic results. But since it's a Republican, the economy is "in the shitter."

According to the same left-leaning news source:
  • The unemployment rate dropped by 0.7%.
  • Exports increased by 5%.
  • And GDP increased by 1.9%.

http://www.businessinsider.com/state-economic-growth-rankings-2014-8?op=1#ixzz3HbmnHicn

These were published before the attacks on the governor began, so I'm sure they'll change their tune to fall in line.

That's how the media works.

So any survey done by the Catholic Church is biased and false according to you. That means you only believe in Liberal leaning surveys, right?

Why the hell should I believe in Liberal surveys when they are mostly controlled by Liberal leaning Media?

No, I said any survey commissioned by a special interest group should be looked at carefully before just accepting the results.

As far as the liberal reporting goes, as this thread shows, surveys are merely statistics that can be interpreted in several ways. And if you don't have the whole story . . . . Unfortunately, we hardly ever get the whole story. Even if we did, most people don't want to bother with it. Most people just want to see whatever they can understand, or what reinforces their own opinion and pass that on, true or not.

Saw the political discussion in the other thread and was again reminded of the differences between liberals and conservatives: For whatever reason, conservatives almost inevitably rely on name-calling, insults, and without a second thought and a complete disregard to civility. I found this comment particularly insulting: "Sometimes, you gotta give up. They're called libtard's for a reason. I don't know where they fact pull, but from a source worse than Wikipedia bar none. Then, they'll defend a fact with a fact they made up."

Despite having different political beliefs, there should still be a modicum of personal respect between people as human beings. However, lumping millions of people into a derogatory category of something as coarse and uncalled for as "libtard's" [sic] crosses the line of disrespect and insult that should not be present in the first place. Considering the ugliness of the intended usage and casual definition of "retard" shortened to "tard," it's just plain ugly and shows contempt and a lack of civility to a depth that's inexcusable.

In order to be fair and balanced you should have mentioned the other side of the coin, where someone mentioned something as coarse and uncalled for as "cu*tservative" even though it wasn't really part of the discussion on the other thread, but is part of the verbosity to describe that group of inferior creatures called conservatives.

That's an incredibly crude term that should not see the light of day.
