Yeah, I didn't know of him last election. Then with this election, started to hear about him at Intrade, then read more about him. How with the 2008 election he picked 49/50 states, the only one he got wrong was Indiana which went to Obama with just 1% and then also picking 35/35 of the Senate races as well.

So with this one, it was either going to confirm he knows what he's talking about or he's one and done. So he goes out and picks 50/50 and look at the popular vote, pretty much on point as well. The right were trying to hammer him but it's math and him just being able to take those numbers and do his thing.

I know he had a book out, figured it would be up there after this and #2 at Amazon - The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail-but Some Don't

I don't personally have a problem with his weight but I know it's not a good look and was thinking the same. For his own health and I know he would get hammered on it in the National Spotlight. The only other thing that might be an issue, is temperament. You have to stay level and I've seen him go a little over at times.

He's very "my way or highway" sometimes. The thing I respect about him (even when I disagree with him) is that he's genuine. Maybe too much so. And ya gotta love a diehard Springsteen fan :).

I don't care about appearances either, but they influence how some people think. President is a stressful job - his c/v system would be a lot happier without having to deal with a lot of extra baggage on top of the stress.

I must admit: after voting I spent the entire day gorging on election coverage.

Me too.

And Nate Silver rocks!

Trump needs to STFU. He's delivering a truckload of supplies to devastated Rockaway residents TODAY? Why wasn't he doing that a week ago instead of yammering about the election?

Gop

Here's what GOP should do:

Fvck itself in every orifice.
Shoot itself in the foot.
Hang itself by the balls. Sorry. I forget. Obama cut them off.

Have been watching the election with fascination... random question.
I've heard lots about planned reforms to the immigration system, but what would this mean for someone like me looking to emigrate from the UK? Thought you politics bods might be able to shine some light on whether there are any planned wholesale changes on such immigration policies or whether the main changes are to do with 'domestic immigrants' and their offspring.

I originally considered fashioning a boat out of wood and sailing across the Atlantic instead of going through the legal processes but decided against it after realising I have no woodcrafting or sailing skills.

The Popular Vote, 48% to 52%, is close enough... and midterms are around the corner, in 2014, so after the Fiscal Cliff deal I expect Repubs will play out the clock, while posturing with platitudes.

Eventually the country will follow California, as it often does, and elect a Democratic Super Majority, like Cali just did, to nullify the obstructionist party.

Heading towards a One Party System. So that's what you call going Forward? No wonder people are leaving California.

Wonder if Puerto Rico will become the fifty-first state.

Well, you 'may' have a better insight there in Portugal, but I live here in California, and people aren't leaving. And you can rest assured we aren't headed for a one-party system in the US. Too much for one side to give up.

In LA or the Bay Area it would always feel like nobody's leaving cali. But in the valley its more obvious. But the real problem not the actual net numbers. But instead people with something in their pocket going to a different state and being replaced with people with nothing in their pocket (dollars fleeing)

RJ did it. cali to nevada

Projected future growth -

California's high home prices plus high taxes on individuals and businesses is making a lot of people leave.

On the other hand the illegals continue to cross the border. If you took these illegals out of the equation, there would be a drop in population

I have 2 close friends who live in California for 35 years, who will be packing up and leaving to Texas and Florida next year, because they're being taxed to death.

I have lived here in Calf for 48 years and I would never give it up for TX or FL

Hawaii yes but never for any other state.
