I'm listening to a program on NPR right now. Before you blast me for being a liberal listening to liberal radio, bear with me. This program is all about how political beliefs divide people, cause lost friends, etc., and how it's pretty much true on both sides. It seems balanced, but you'll have to judge that for yourself. It did convince me that it's silly to waste so much time, energy and emotion arguing politics in such a contentious way, so I'm stopping. It doesn't help anyone or anything.

I haven't listened to it yet but the T-SHIRT on the site says:

"My son in law voted for Obama.. and he's an idiot."

Pronoun without an antecedent... deliberate or just accidentally amusing.

The last "real" president of the United States (one that was not a complete sell-out to the banking-establishment slash globalists) was JFK and we all know what happened to him when he tried to alert the people. I think people should wake up to the fact that the 2012 election is a complete farce. IMHO

Since I know who is going to win and pledge to NOT be over exuberant with the majority in this thread, I thought I'd put this Video up just to get away from Politics for a few minutes and get inspired by the simple beauty of the world around us that so often we don't even notice: ENJOY :)

I pledge, I'll try to control my exuberants and won't rub it in too bad. And I admit, Ryan is kinda funny

Oh, I pledge to rub it in mercilessly, unless Romney loses, in which case I won't return to the thread, lol.

1 more day.

And the we get another 2 years of infighting with neither party able to budge... People elected into office with precanned pledges making compromise impossible ...so that in 2 years time we can start over with the same tired old arguments.

The US is countries within a country bound by an illogical belief in old historical documents that people quote without a historical context.

Forward! Hope of the Earth. Forward.

It'll start to get better. This election was the Republicans last good chance. They either need to start making some drastic changes or just fade away.

Final roundup of some polls I've been checking out, we'll see who gets it right tomorrow:

Popular Vote
Obama +0.7 - Real Clear Politics average of various polls
Romney 50% - Obama 49% - Gallup - one of two major polls that has Romney ahead
Romney 49% - Obama 48% - Rasmussen - one of two major polls that has Romney ahead
Obama leading in NBC News, ABC News, Pew Research polls

Electoral Map Roundup
Obama 310, Romney 228 - Princeton Election Consortium
Obama 307, Romney 231 - Nate Silver
Obama 303, Romney 235 - Intrade
Obama 277, Romney 191, Toss-up 70 - Huffington Post
Obama 243, Romney 206, Toss-up 89 - NY Times
Obama 243, Romney 206, Toss-up 89 - NBC News
Obama 237, Romney 206, Toss-up 95 - Rasmussen
Obama 237, Romney 206, Toss-up 95 - CNN

Chance Of Winning Percentage
Obama 67.6 - Intrade - will probably get to over 70 tonight sometime
Obama 91.4 - Nate Silver

2008 Election
"Mr. Silver had predicted the popular vote within one percentage point, predicted 49 of 50 states’ results correctly, and predicted all of the resolved Senate races correctly."

All major betting sites have Obama winning

Possibly last link of this election season? If there was any doubt about Fox News, already try to find somebody/something to blame. Gov. Christie, or Hurricane Sandy .....

I dont want one party to change.

I want politics to change.
I want people to change.

I want people who have a vision but aren't blinded by their own.

"In the razor-thin 1960 presidential election, John F. Kennedy campaigned in 49 states. Richard M. Nixon visited all 50.

The current contest is just as close and intense, but the candidates have campaigned in only 10 states since the political conventions. There are towns in Ohio that have received more attention than the entire West Coast."

Only the Popular vote and a strong 3rd party will make these elections more interesting. Too much emphasis on the Swing States and especially Ohio. All the other states are virtually ignored. Makes no sense at all.

But the most important change that should be done is to stop Business, Media and Politicians from sleeping together, but I don't see how that will ever happen in the US.

The better system would enable a relevant third party that can serve more of a purpose than merely getting in the way... and without winding up with the constant Italian style coalitions.

Corporatism has to end. Everyone can laugh at Occupy.. but everything has to start somewhere.

I hope everyone here can remain friends despite the fact that I think everyone got angry/pissed off or was rude to someone at one point or another.

This kinda sucks in a way, it's like going to a movie and already knowing how it ends. These days of prediction markets with people putting in thousands of their own money and statistician whizzes like Nate Silver, who hit at upper 90%. The right were attacking this guy with a fury, but it's just math. I like my suggestion earlier, that would never happen. No polls, straight up popular vote. Tonight would be a total surprise, record turnout, a true democratic vote that way.

This is the Intrade final Electoral Map - http://electoralmap.net/2012/intrade.php

The only difference between that one and Nate Silver, is he has Florida going blue, by just a few percentage points. I think it goes red, but we'll see.
