German women rise up! #120
“The offenders are everywhere. While jogging in the park, when we return after work, while we are waiting for a bus, we are not secure.”
Populism rising? I sure hope so, and my “distorted view of the world” is not some unique, independent idea, it’s common sense shared by many. I have been in many countries for extended periods of time, both rich and poor parts in Asia, all of the Americas, a number in the EU and Ukraine pre-Crimea annexation. Have you?
@Kate people are the same everywhere, want the same basic things, its just that some of us disagree as to who should pay for those things. Private versus state funded. Fierce independence or Nanny states. The US was not founded by uneducated people or people who wanted big government, but the entire thing morphed these past 40+ years into the uber wealthy class and the do nothing class. The middle class shrinks and tax bills increased. Prosperity and wealth needs to come from somewhere independent of gov’t interference. The sole purpose of gov’t is to protect it’s people, but the rise within of the socialist agenda has created all these unnecessary Dept of XXXX’s and sub subdivsions and Gov’t employees. And all the free subsidies to all levels - rich corporations and lobbyists tax breaks to the poor who refuse to work, or get educated and just want to pop out more babies to get more free stuff.
Normal people worldwide are oppressed by their Gov’t’s or Religious or economic ideologies. Or their caste system old world cultures. It’s large corporations and Gov’t and globalization and money interests that hurt the average person. I am just a simple retired taxpayer that is sick of paying the bills for foreign interventions in conflicts. I don’t agree with the past foreign policy, or the stupid privacy rights confiscation of the Patriot act. I have posted my Haitian art photos earlier here, did you look at them? Very sad to see craftsmen having to leave their home to work in other countries. It’s the fault of those gov’ts. What has happened in war torn countries divided into pieces by religion like Yugoslavia, which also as you are are aware was where the first World War began. Places that have no economy or leadership are F - - ed up are those whose Govt are corrupt, including my own Gov’t, probably the most corrupt of all $$$ wise with big lobbyists, yet it still seems to function.
Industrious, hardworking people are everywhere. Most people everywher just scrape by, living on the edge. People do have common sense everywhere I have been, they also lack it everywhere. The entire world is jealous of the US economic success, Japan, China have been smart enough to capitalize and sell into it. Americans have been stupid enough to buy into the exporting of their jobs to shop at Walmart to buy cheap stuff. Europe is actually smarter or more supportive of small retail business than the US is btw. It’s self evident that neighborhood mom and pop restaurants and small stores still exist there, shoes are made in Spain, and there are shoe stores, whereas in the US shoes are made in China or wherever Bangladesh and imported. Bigbox Costco and Walmart USA isnt my idea of a healthy country.
I am by no means anti European, just “anti pay-the-bills” for Nato-Europe. I’d rather live in Madrid or Barcelona than NYC or LA. In fact, I may someday move there.
