We're electing a President, not a Pope.
True. But historically evangelical Christians have placed a very high value on the moral character of the elected officials they support. So it baffles me how so many support a man who embodies so many traits they previously found unacceptable.

Obrigada pelo convite* - if the Orange One gets elected I might be looking to relocate. But beautiful as the scenery is, I'm not sure I'm up for considering trans-atlantic just yet. And its a small island - I'd be afraid that you'd be putting those stupid memes in my mailbox every day instead of just posting online where I can ignore them. :).

The only comparison to Reagan is about being tough in order for US to regain respect, especially from Islamic terrorism. Their personalities are totally different.

Reagan's world was vastly different to today's. Many of the issues are new and cannot be compared.

One positive thing about Trump, he doesn't like war. Was smart enough to oppose the Iraq war when EVERY democrat in the Senate but Bernie Sanders voted for it.

But like Trump said, he loves "the poorly educated".

Plus, it's fake

You've been quoting Slate.com and MotherJones. Only thing I haven't seen you quote is VOX. There's enough Bullshit in this election to fill the Grand Canyon.

Anything you say about Trump, you can say about Hillary. They are both horrible choices.

^ Virtually everything I checked that Gilsan posts was false, or promoted a falsehood. Like most hate-fueled propagandist, the absence of truth drives the need to repeat the falsehood until they themselves believe it.
He came to mind while reading this, earlier today:
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20161026-how-liars-create-the-illusion-of-truth

His most often repeated 'liberal media' lie is a good example. "Mainstream media" is corporate commercial media. Anybody who thinks corporate media is liberal media must be watching with their head up their ass.

Think of the most popular 'Liberal Groups', now count how many have TV programs on commercial media?
Now, put that number against the programs backed by conservative corps like the Koch Bros, DOW, etc.

Get a clue:
Mainstream media is conservative corporate media.
The 'Liberal Media' created the Indie film, TV & books market because mainstream media is conservative...

As far as 'Political Correctness':
I think conservatives have forgotten, the liberal policy & practice of 'political correctness' is a tolerance tool designed to protect those, in a multicultural society, with the most political crimes against other groups.

As it is now, the politically correct thing to do when a racist attacks another group, is to forgive & educate.
Replace that with "stand your ground" at your own peril.

US media is overwhelmingly liberal. Last three elections most donated to the DNC and democratic candidate for Pres.

'Political Correctness' is tool liberals use to feel morally superior while attacking others they disagree with. There is no right to be protected from offense.

Progressives used to love freedom and free speech. Now they are becoming more like communist / totalitarians who want to re-educated people who "think wrong".

Black Lives Matter is a Marxist movement that grew out of Occupy Wallstreet. Run by spoiled rich children who have never been discriminated against.

The near riots at Trump rally in Chicago were financed by the DNC. Riots in minority, democratic run cities are excused as protest. Large city with overwhelming crime and poverty is / has been run by progressives for decades.

Please, stay in the UK.

LOL - Don't try to "mansplain" to me!

I'm talking from my own experience and that of my girlfriends and acquaintances. Most of us are upper middle class, college educated professionals, and not "dressing like whores", thank you (not that it should matter) Whoever "proved" that wrong I suggest their methods were seriously flawed.

Guess what? If someone works in the adult industry that doesn't make them fair game for a sexual assault either. What they do in their work is consensual and legal.

Then your experience is NOT normal or you have a very low threshold for the definition of sexual assault.

I said I don't believe her. Not that she deserved it. The fact she's a whore who has sex for money makes her claim of being hurt and shocked by the offer of money for sex a little incredulous.

Gloria Allred loathsome person with a long history of attacking republican candidates.

If you don't get it, you don't get it.

Try to focus. We're not taking about Bill or Hillary, we're talking about Donald and you never answered my questions. Not a one of them. Typical of both trump (read the debate transcripts,) and his supporters. Ask a question, all you get is an ad hominem attack or some canned response. Boring.

Let's try an easy one. Someone asks if they can call your daughter a "piece of ass" on a public broadcast with you.
Your answer is:
1) Dude, no -that's just wrong.
2) Over my dead body (reaching for weapon)
3) Sure!

If your answer was 3, what would it have been 5 years ago? Honestly?

You're projecting. I've never excused Trump's bad behavior. I was #NEVERTRUMP until I saw how careless and corrupt Hillary is.

Anything you can say about Trump, I can find something worse about Hillary.. like the time she accused a 12 year old rape victim of fantasying of sex with older men.

Yeah.. that 12 year old little girl was asking for it.

Maybe the reason trump supporters answer questions like this with other questions, personal attacks or deflections to his opponent is that they're conflicted between what they used to believe and what they need to believe to support him.

Let's say you're a Christian supporter. He has by his own word attempted to cheat on his pregnant wife by seducing another mans wife. That's 2 of the 10 commandments down the tubes right there. Not paying the agreed amount to people who did work for him - I would call that stealing, that's #3. Lie after lie -oops, #4.

Again we're not discussing anyone else. My question is how can you justify him being what you stand for?

How can you stand for / support Hillary? You're not shinny either pot.

Besides Hillary's penchant for public corruption, She supported the invasion, then the withdrawal from Iraq.

Not learning anything, following a ginned up media frenzy over the evil Gaddafi, Hillary supported the invasion of Libya. Her state dept. helped overthrow Muammar Gaddafi, then walked away, handing over Libya to al Qaeda and Isis.

Trump opposed both actions.

IF you want to wag a finger at Trump supporters b/c Donald is a bad person, then support Hillary, you're just a hypocrite.

Hillary has no good policy issues.

Trump is the RNC candidate b/c the people who run this country and the media knew he was the only person Hillary has a chance to beat.

You think if Dems could rig elections, they would have rigged the Gore one, the guy who actually got more votes.

9 out of 10 dead people are democrats.

Gore lost EVERY recount, include one by liberal journalist after the election.

The party DAP (Deutsche ArbeiterparteI) was renamed 1920 to NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) to attract more people from the "left" and the "right". Hitler was rather a fascist.

Also socialism and communism are not exactly the same although they have common features and sometimes appear to be one and the same thing or partly are. Here is a good article on that (in German):

http://www.zeit.de/1949/14/sozialismus-und-kommunismus

Also I can strongly recommend to read Karl Marx' books. It is good to understand where this idea came from and under which circumstances it evolved. Marx is very theoretical and can be difficult to understand (especially the original texts in German), but it is worth to give it a try.
Thank you very much. Maybe he will actually listen to you.

I hate people that say "socialism = communism!" or "hitler was a socialist" when these are absolutely false statements.

But the whole election and all around it seems to focus on the two big ones. Real democracy lives from plurality, many different voices

American Gov has three "equal" branches.

Executive ( President ) enforces laws.
Legislative: Tasked with making laws
Judicial: Tasked with interpreting laws, settling disputes.

These are supposed to check and balance each other, so in theory representation is very diverse.

Probably democracy can be nowhere perfect as long as the lifeforms (here: humans) exercising democracy or trying to do so are imperfect and mostly driven by egoistic motives.

Exactly.

You are prob one of the idiots that think "Socialism = Communism". No, its not. European countries employ socialism and are better off than america.

Your Portuguese is perfect. The "convite" is still open. Oh and BTW the only place I talk politics and religion is here at NP. Not Facebook, not Twitter and much less by mail.

Hereยดs another lovely "stupid meme" cartoon of your favorite Politician, Hillary "the Octopus" to bring a little color into the thread.

How often do you check the posts you agree with for veracity?

How about you? How often to you check and take apart posts you disagree with? If you go thru the posts, it's pretty obvious one side posts more bs and easily taken apart nonsense. One of the reasons is using joke sources. Complain about mainstream media but use conspiracy theory sites, Russian backed sites, right wing sites, white nationalist sites etc.

Trump opposed both actions.

That's not true. Do you knowingly post false info just to see if you can get it thru or are you just misinformed?

You've been quoting Slate.com and MotherJones. Only thing I haven't seen you quote is VOX. There's enough Bullsh*t in this election to fill the Grand Canyon.

I post easily backed facts. Show me one time where I haven't, that you can take apart with your next post.

You said Trump opposed going after Gaddafi, I just posted a video showing otherwise, see how easy that was for me? Now you do the same.

One positive thing about Trump, he doesn't like war. Was smart enough to oppose the Iraq war when EVERY democrat in the Senate but Bernie Sanders voted for it.

Another false one. Unless you want to discount what he said on Howard Stern? And Obama opposed it, you left him out.

Trump is anti-war? Maybe want to read up

Trump was opposed to intervention in Libya before it happened. You're "flip flops" are from speeches after the fact, that we should deal with Libya harshly.

Trump's support for Iraq invasion was an answer to a question asked in casual question on the Stern show. His response.. "uh, I guess so"

In later interviews on news stations, he was against invading Iraq, citing Pres. Bush's decision not to remove Saddam Hussein.

You quote lies and misrepresentations from far-left journalist and alt-left racist.

Well I apparently ruffled a few feathers - lol. Good!
I still never got any answers to my questions. Sad, but not surprising.

There's enough Bullsh*t in this election to fill the Grand Canyon.
Most of it coming out of Trumps' mouth.
