Let me correct it, again...
Bin Laden escapes to Afghanistan - splinter group Al Queda forms after Taliban collapsed (prior to that they were ISIS)

2001 - War on Terror - US invades Iraq (was 911 another Plan D?)

Call me salty, but it was just a misinterpretation. Maybe now you understand how wars get started. :xf.wink:

Huge Absentee Vote in Key States Favors Democrats So Far
Tom Bonier, the chief executive of TargetSmart, a Democratic data firm, said his models showed Democrats with a 10-point advantage among the 275,000 first-time voters nationwide who had already cast ballots and an 18-point lead among 1.1 million “sporadic voters” who had already voted.

At the same point in the 2016 cycle, Mr. Bonier said, his model showed Democrats with a 1.6-point advantage among sporadic voters.

“Democrats are highly engaged, and they’re turning out,” Mr. Bonier said. “Republicans can’t say the same.”

How the US Helped Create Saddam Hussein

The last time Donald Rumsfeld saw Saddam Hussein, he gave him a cordial handshake. The date was Dec. 20, 1983; an official Iraqi television crew recorded the historic moment.

CIA Files Prove America Helped Saddam as He Gassed Iran

The U.S. knew Hussein was launching some of the worst chemical attacks in history -- and still gave him a hand.

You forgot to mention why they invaded Iraq...

Because in 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, the tiny, oil-rich neighbor. Kuwait’s defense forces were rapidly overwhelmed, and those that were not destroyed retreated to Saudi Arabia. The emir of Kuwait, his family, and other government leaders fled to Saudi Arabia, and within hours Kuwait City had been captured and the Iraqis had established a provincial government. By annexing Kuwait, Iraq gained control of 20 percent of the world’s oil reserves and, for the first time, a substantial coastline on the Persian Gulf.

Saddam Hussein had been flexing his muscles in the region for some time. He got what he deserved!

That's not why the invaded in 2003. The real reasons were because:

- Saddam was going to start pricing oil in Euros, which would likely lead to other countries doing that, which would hurt the US dollar.

- US companies wanted Iraq's oil and gas. And after the US invaded and starting controlling things (before Iraq setup its own government), the US setup long-term contracts that grossly undervalued the oil and gas.

Saddam was terrible, but people should also realize:

1) The US helped him maintain power for years. He probably would have been gone long before, if the US hadn't helped him.

2) The US basically told him it was okay for him to invade Kuwait in 1991. And I've read part of the reason he invaded was because Kuwait was "slant-drilling" -- i.e. drilling at a slant, to steal some of Iraq's oil.

3) Anyone who thinks Saddam and Bin Laden were connected is an ignorant idiot. They were both terrible, but they also both hated each other and had totally different ideologies. And the rationale for the 2003 invasion of Iraq was ridiculous, and they totally botched doing it too.

4) Saddam and Bin Laden were both mass murderers who were supported and cultivated by the US (mainly Republicans).

Also, problems like the above are generally caused by Republicans in power.

And anyone who supports Trump at this point is either an idiot or has lost their way morally. It's frankly insane that "conservatives" support a guy who has such a disreputable history (with porn stars, apparently paying for abortions, dirty business history, not paying contractors, defrauding consumers, etc.). Look at all the people who have worked in the Trump administration who have said that he's terrible -- how can people be blind to that?

But at least some of the sheep/lemmings are starting to open their eyes :)

My post does not mention why the US invaded Kuwait in order to kick Saddam out. I was only pointing out that Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990!

@GILSAN, love ya!!!

Thank you for quoting;

"Eye of newt" Got to read one of Newt's books.

Why do you admire Gingrich? He's another scumbag.

Gingrich married his former high school teacher at age 19, but then apparently had a lot of affairs, including with campaign volunteers.
Then "In the spring of 1980, Gingrich filed for divorce from Jackie after beginning an affair with Marianne Ginther" and supposedly said about his teacher-wife: ""She's not young enough or pretty enough to be the wife of the President. And besides, she has cancer."

So he divorced her while she had cancer. And he was a deadbeat: "Following the divorce, Jackie had to raise money from friends in her congregation to help her and the children make ends meet; she later filed a petition in court stating that Gingrich had failed to properly provide for his family."

Then 12 years after marrying Ginther (who he had an affair with while married to his first wife), "In 1993, while still married to Marianne, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek".

And "Gingrich filed for divorce from Marianne in 1999, a few months after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis."

So let's see:
- marries a woman, has affairs, divorces her when she has cancer
- marries another woman he had an affair with, has more affairs, divorces her when she has MS

The guy is a scumbag, and if you respect him, you need to take a look at your morals. It's ridiculous for a "conservative" to support a guy like that.

Oil was the main reason the US invaded Kuwait, in order to kick Saddam out. Another important reason was the military had some new toys they wanted to test out in the desert...

Ah, there it is.
Check out his reply at the Presidential debates back when he was running;

Admire; Policy, Policy knowledge of economics

Credited for most for Clinton's economic boom, Newt’s model led the way.
Can argue, more impact economy than Clinton
Back when Speaker of the Houses' good...

I dont care that he failed to impeach Clinton; or Personal life. (low, but all left can do)
"When go low, we aim high." Obumer wife;

Have you written a book about Gingrich? You seem to know a lot about his life!

Got any interesting gossip about Nancy Pelosi... the witch?
