"Trump is not out to defend history but to obscure it β and to crush those who would bring it to light β while replacing reality with his fairy tale version in which he somehow ends up the hero."
Interesting that the writer cites parallels to 1918, when the progressive Democrat Woodrow Wilson was president. Yes, he had a totalitarian bent, but it's rare to see it ever mentioned in today's press. She also cites the Red Scare, which was, of course, fear of Russia. Sound familiar?
You don't seem to understand that much of Trump's support came from people who voted for Obama, and might well vote for Bernie Sanders, if given the chance. Trump can say whatever he wants, but these people voted for him because he was the only candidate that wasn't a complete tool of the deep state.
The Dems, rather than wising up, doubled down. Instead of deep state tool Hillary, now they will nominate one who is halfway out of it with advancing dementia. Hillary might have made demands, but Biden will be more obedient. Tell him to start a war, and he'll do it. What does he care? He's in the oval office, and has all the lollies he needs.
The whole country is going on a fascist totalitarian bender. If you care about that, Trump is the least of your worries.
