Here’s why it doesn’t apply to the impeachment proceedings...:

First, at this point we’re talking about investigative HEARINGS, not a trial.

Second, that’s a great example but IRL it’s the stuff of tv drama series. This isnt West Podunk traffic court. Given the visibility of this issue, nobody is going to try, much less be allowed to get away with such amateurish behavior.

Third, you’re forgetting that if the impeachment proceedings go to trial it will take place in the senate and the GOP controls the senate.


*If you look at partisan political fundraising “push polls” you’ll see a lot of questions worded in a similar manner - so that there’s no yes or no answer that doesn’t make the questioner’ point.
