The difference is that in the first example you’re applying a generic policy equally to everyone regardless of their race, age (assuming they're adults), gender, religion or what they do in their bedroom. In the second, you’re refusing business because of who requested it and what they will do with the item they buy once it’s purchased and in their possession.,

No, both cases are the same. They are defending their own standards regardless of "who requested it."

Can they refuse to sell a cake to someone for a biracial or mixed religion marriage? A Jewish wedding? What if the buyer is a black couple? How about a white nationalist couple? Any of those could theoretically go against someone’s religious beliefs. Still just a customer buying a cake.

I'm fine with all. People have the right to do business with whomever they choose, assuming it is their own business, a non-essential service and not supported by taxes.

But even if you think the buyer will burn in hell, would it kill you to take 2 seconds to write a name in icing on a cake and stick two groom figures on top?
