For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The amount of .tel keep 300k. It is bad but not so bad. It is worth to take risk. Now it is not much chance to invest in domain industry.

Even Godaddy have not included this extension to register.

If even Godaddy does not carry .tel it speaks volume about the potential

March 2012 is coming soon, I expect that a lot of the landrush domains will be dropped as the initial 3-year registration period is coming to an end.

I think there wlll drop domains in the future (Landrush 3 yearregistration anniversary).
BUT that doesn't say that the domainnameextension is crap !

This .tel-extension CAN become huge.
Just as mobi, but mobi has more chance to get much bgger then anybody can imagine.
The MOBILE INTERNETUSE is STILL LOW and costs too much money, in my country. But once the pricng for mobile internetting drops i think these extensons wll go up.

As I read that with tel there will be the possibly to use it for for a MOBLEPAYMENTS, then it could still become huge.

At least registerring your own name (name+surname) is something I would advice anyone.
if you want to be found by somebody who nows you then they only have to put your name + the word "tel" in google and the dottelname gets in the FIRST RESULTS of GOOGLE.

That Godaddy isn't offering the extention (any more ?), is indeed strange, but GOOGLE isn't dropping ths extention.

This is where you are wrong my friend, there is no need for a dedicated extension for mobile use, nor is there a need for an extension that purports to mimic a 'contact us page'.
.tel does nothing that cannot be achieved with existing domain names. But .tel is the only extension that can't be developed. This is why it's the absolute worst extension. In fact, it's useless.

From the POV of the public it's yet another extension. They can't be bothered.

Let them drop. The only .tel I would keep are first names and super premium keywords like loans, insurance, doctor....
