Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

$12 offer is embarrassing.
You may want to re-evaluate your list. Most are regfee to low $xx in the .tel market nowadays. $12 would be an embarrassment for 5-10 of them, and those likely top out at high $xx to low $xxx.

This is always a lively forum!

Today is renewal day for .tel and I was just wondering what people are doing with their tels?

I got in as a domain Noobie (still am) when .tel was at Landrush and have a modest 20 or so .tel generic term domains which are pretty ok. Some could be used for "directory building" and some could be used for particular areas of business which potentially could be sold to end users to market their business if they want to advertise with a generic term, e.g. motorbikes.tel (I don't own this but is an example of the types of .tels I have).

Have there been any auction sales, reported sales to end users or anything that would inspire me to renew more than I'm currently considering?

Expect .tel's to drop like flies soon - some might be worth catching this time round.

For sales check out a publicly available list at Historical Dot Tel Sales.

I shall only be keeping on to my best .tel domains but this is not exclusive to .tel as I think the whole domain aftermarket has fallen on its knees and shall not return to it's lucrative past for some time.

its missing Adelaide.tel. and the numbers Ron reported in DNJ were actually slightly off, the actual prices at time of sale from AUD -> USD were $2500 AUD -> ~$1725 USD on Brisbane.tel and $1925 AUD -> ~$1375 USD on Adelaide.tel, for the record

I just read news announcung that Telnic has launched a Quick Setup Tool for .tel names. I have only a few .tel (starting with my family name), mostly preventive registrations, but I am curious to see of the Quick Setup Tool works. However, I am unable to find any information about it, even when I open a .tel configuration panel. Does anybody have more precise information available.

The #1 sale on that page didn't happen. The webmaster of that site surely knows it too. How many of the others are fake also?

lesbian.tel is mine and has been since day one. The domain did go via sedo.com but the buyer never paid so the sale got cancelled.

Seriously, right now. I'm buying .tel in hope that they will start to focus on making the .tel owners money. Instead of just being a "directory". I can't wait to the day when I can actually embed a youtube video to my .tel domains. I mean, it's about time they start to look into things like Godaddys "Smartspace".

They could use a "smartspace" concept so I can build a web site with drag-n-drop tools and make money by being an affiliate to products that I can promote.

The phone directory concept is sooo 2006. And no body is making any real money with that concept. Innovate! please.

:bah:

some curious news

prnewswire.com/news-releases/telchina-and-china-mobile-to-build-mobile-payment-solution-with-tel-119751354.html"]TelChina and China Mobile to Build Mobile Payment Solution With .tel

not sure what it means at this stage.

Good news. I guess I'll hold ppv.tel then (my one and only) :)

.tel domains/telnic
has been named as one of six vendors in the Gartner Cool Vendor in Context-Aware Computing 2011 Report released this month.

The report, available from Gartner, highlights the benefits of Telnicโ€™s DNS-based, real-time publishing platform

Landrush for LL tels has started. Heres letter from Enom. Will anyone go for them? I am tempted to backorder my initials.

How do I get my two-character or all numeric .TEL?

Landrush is a 2 week period starting 8AM MDT (UTC 14:00) on Wednesday June 1st. You'll pay $239 to apply for any .TEL name you wish - if you get it, congratulations! If not, you'll be refunded $214.
General Availability Registrations will be open beginning June 14 at 8AM MDT (UTC 14:00). All domains that were not applied for during the Landrush period will become available for $9.99

I don't owe any .tel domains but just thought this may be worth posting here. Apparently (dnsaleprice.com) the third highest .tel sale took place in Poland last Friday.

nieruchomosci.tel sold for EUR 2.200 (~ USD 3.180) .gieldadomen.pl/bid.php?id=962162"]SOURCE

The term "nieruchomosci" means "real estate" in Polish.
