Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Now, what is the advantage of the DNS? A miliseconds of a difference in getting information? That maybe WAS advantage before 10 years.
The differences are also about security and availability (replication)

Internet is not limited to html.

Would you use html for voiceoverip ? for p2p ? No ? why ? each needs have its requirement and .tel bring a elegant solution to a simple need that have not been filled yet.

Their is people around me having a .tel just to maintain their contact info online. Would you recommand them to spend more money and learn html + web hosting just to bring their contact info online ? :hehe:

Then we are speaking about CMS, and such are available since the Internet. You can also pay few dollars and get CMS where you enter all the informations.

TEL is surely a great stuff, but I bet your friends don't know what is SIP/XMPP/H323 and so on, those are esoteric features for any beginner.

Hey guys,

I hope I'm posting this in the proper section.

I have several .tel domains and because of my financial situation I need to let a few expire.

I was hoping you could give me some advice on which ones I should keep.

As an example, I have my first name last name at .tel and I also have my first initial last name at .tel.

If you had to let one expire which one would you choose?

I also have a few three letter .tel domains and was wondering if they would be worth keeping?

The one is a fairly common acronym.

I also have a geographic .tel which is a fairly known city. Would you keep that?

I just really need some advice on what to dump.

Thanks

Well, better sort them by priority and keep those which you can pay. Message me with 3 letter TELs, maybe I buy something.

With .tel you know you get speed its a global standard for speed and speed does still matter when you are out on the street and using slow 3g.
This argument was probably made within the first few pages of this thread.

My view at the time was that since .tel was speculation, you have to consider future network speeds. Does today's .tel vs. .com on 3G argument stand the test of time? Of course not. Now lo and behold here we are a year later and 4G has been launched.

Yes but the point is even with 4G you sometimes want to surf quick pages without 100 flash banners etc and than you know .tel will be speed. It will still be a couple of years before you have 4G networks all over the world but by that time .tel domains will have evolved with new functionality etc.

Hi,
I would keep my lastname.tel + .tel you have real usage of.

Are you suggesting that .tel sends the same amount of business as a YellowPages listing?
Yes. I have several yellow pages listings. When I compare TEL traffic to the basic yellow pages traffic, they are about the same. That's why, as a business owner, I support TEL. TEL costs less and I get a back link too. Since the fees are 100% Tax deductible anyhow, it is the obvious choice. If you continue to save "no" to such a small expense as a TEL registration fee, then it is obvious too that you a) don't have a small business or b) don't have a very good accountant to help with your taxes. There is not a negative-side to owning a TEL for small business purposes. For small businesses, TEL is 100% positive.

Hi,

Thanks for the feed back.

Just so I'm understanding you correctly. As an example, if I had:

johndoe.tel or jdoe.tel

are you saying it would be better to keep the jdoe.tel name?

Could you elaborate a little more on why.

Thanks a ton.

Reading the .tel registrar newsletter is WOW, adding new features and making it attractive is a win win situation. All .tel nasayers here are wrong.

Also .tel domains are soon dropping and this can change .tel owners and investors not to let it expired but renew it.

Happy I own nice .tel but regret that I sold over hundreds, anyway I couldn't pay renewal fees.

One thing that would be nice would be the ability to create a directory sublevel that could be secured with a password.
You could protect private information viewable by only those with the passcode

Just a thought.

Hi curvefan,

I personnaly prefer johndoe.tel, simple and explicit.

Thanks hakita.

I guess it really comes down to personal preference.

Thanks again.

About .tel soon dropping.
Most of nice .tel have been registered in landrush, and are automatically registered for 3 year.
So nice .tel wont drop soon.

I thought you guys might be interested in the Murman.tel case study - they claim to have 250 paid listings, $8,000 revenue last month, and are growing fast. :tu:
