Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

@Wordwalker

i do come here every now and then but i don't read that much as half of the time its a fight between supporters or haters, i really found your post interesting and something to learn from. i own a lot of
.tel domains as well but many of them are not developed as we are all waiting to see how its to turn out and like you said if profit comes it should be self erased not by other means.

just added rep for you as well

A thank you movie ;)

You can fastforward to about 1/4 or 1/3 into the movie if you don't understand swedish.

FYI I'll be talking at the UK Business Startup Show on thu and fri 26-27 about SEO in general and .tel in particular. Mostly simple practical and cheap ways to do SEO and improve your brand recognition.

hah! that was great!

i almost never look at this thread anymore because the pro/con arguments are so boring, repetitious and plentiful, but that commercial made this visit worthwhile. i laughed out loud at the end.

but viewers shouldn't fast forward - the build-up makes it work, i think. and you don't have to understand the language to get it.

Name.com problem with transfer of .tel to another account.
I've sold a domain name .tel and tried to push using ID to the buyer but everytime it fails since saturday, today I'e decided to remove all datas and same. Impossible to transfer.
Have anyone here have same issues?

I 've made a couple of .tel transfers at Name.com without a single problem

I just read that alot of people are having some problems with certain registrars. They are implementing the 60 day rule before transferring. I do not know if it relates to a push though.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the self-defeating plight of the domainer nowadays:

The development necessary to make a new extension popular and therefore profitable to domainers is hindered precisely because most of the best names are snapped up by large numbers of domainers with little-to-no intent of developing and who are usually unwilling to let their domains go for anything less than the high prices they expect to get once the extension becomes profitable. But when the potential end users who can't afford those high prices feel thwarted and don't bother developing in the new extension, that makes that extension less likely to be successful.

Sucks, doesn't it?
Very nicely said.

No not really, I hear of the odd sale but nothing that great to be honest.

Think telnic have some more changes/news that we should know more about in December time.

Always waiting for that next wave to ride.

Then in January you'll be waiting for more news in March.

I don't mind riding the TEL wave. In fact, I think it's a blast. As an domainuser, I don't really care what domainsellers say about what is hot and what isn't. I only care about results. I'm getting a lot of business from Fontana, California right now. Do a search on Fontana Cigarettes and my TEL site is on the first page in Google. That one listing has paid for all the TEL sites I've purchased, so far. B-) Now that I know these sites can compete in Google, I am going to spend the next few weeks pumping information into 50States.tel and see what it can do. See you on the next wave...

As usual, not hard to rank for expressions that have zero search volume.

I do a lot of searches online, and have yet to find a .tel site.

I've seen .cc, .info, and .me ranked in a lot of terms - no .tel

Whoooo! Thats good. #4 for broad search and #2 for exact search is darn good.

The term is taken in .COM only and has only 140 broad searches a month on Google. The phrase and exact searches show "Not enough data".

This is not exactly a competitive term.
