Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

New Community TelHosting release:

* Description field for all contact items; up to 255 bytes of text in any language
* Backup and restore operations for all .tel data
* Customizable title supporting special characters
They should just launch a page generator now and get it over with. You know this is where it's headed.

Perfect!
Better than I imagine and design.
Once I own .tel, I will give up most of my building up website plan.
Discard joomla,wordpress,Discuz!,phpcms...etc
.tel can provide most of my website plan for simple,I don't need to waste time to think design css, frame, pattern etc.
Great Job!

User-generated templates/stylesheets for the TelProxy page? I think that would be a bad idea, for the time being at least. Eventually the TelProxy will become less important in terms of how we access information that the trade-offs won't cost as much. IMHO.

5700%

traffic to my tel related blog is up 5700% this month according to alexa.com, so that might be a good sign for dot tel.

also,

check out the sedo auction for marketing.tel, with 24 hrs to go the bid is at 850 euros....

would be nice if a few more people bid on that auction as that would help build some confidence.:talk::zzz::zzz::zzz::talk:

Should be interesting. This is a super premium .tel. Let's see if it can make up for the $220 mall.tel sale.

Marketing.cc $901 05/2009
Marketing.mobi $26,100 10/2007

That .mobi price is baloney - it never actually changed hands (it's owned by mTLD).

Marketing.tel is a reasonable name, not what I'd call super premium though. If it were then I'd be bidding ;)

Telnic wows em' in Philly

*

Seems it's not only a handful of those of us here who "drank the Kool-Aid" that think there just m i g h t be something to this .tel thing.

If Telnic is in the hoodwinking business, they are doing a pretty good job as they just pulled off a bit of a marketing coup by earning a Best Data award.

That cast of naysayers continues to dwindle...

Cheers,

If "Marketing" is not a super premium keyword then I don't know what is.

Here's the video presentation that was shown at Data Content 09 yesterday where Telnic won the Models of Excellence award. This video is Henri's idea.

Yep, Telnic won the Model of Excellence award at Data Content '09 in Philadelphia. Henri was there to speak on a panel and collect the award (some photos). Very well done to him and everyone else at Telnic! :tu:
It's kind of funny to read what they said about LinkedIn in 2004:

"...we've never been impressed with volunteer databases where people are supposed to list themselves and maintain their information because good intentions do not guarantee good data. But Linked In, a social networking service built on a volunteer database, has actually built something that works by imposing and enforcing standards and rules for its service."

They didn't address this in their .tel comments for 2009.

Why isn't anyone talking about the Marketing.tel sale?

Oh that's right, we would rather sweep that one under the rug too.

850 EUR / $1,261 USD

Not a bad ROI for the owner, but if upper echelon .tels are going to go for this then it doesn't bode well for the common domainer.

:hi: These paltry sales are unimportant, because you can make :$: millions renting space to end users instead :p

... or use .tel to get on page 1 of Google for mega competitive keywords.

"Anyone who is in the MARKETING business has the chance of a lifetime to get on PAGE 1 of google with MARKETING.Tel ..at sedo.com 24hrs left"

I guess the chance of a lifetime comes around whenever a new extension is released.

Thought you guys might be interested to know that in a new book, This is Social Media: Tweet, Blog, Link and Post Your Way to Business Success that's racing up Amazon's chart for business books, the author (Guy Clapperton, who also happened to write the piece in the Guardian) writes about and recommends .tel in Chapter 4 (p. 94-96), "Where will people find you?".
I would much rather prefer to read business books by people who are actually in business and don't just write about business.

That Guardian article was written in February 2009 - before .tel went live. It's apparent that Guy Clapperton (what a name) bought into the media frenzy of TelNic's first raving self-reviews. The truth came out once the .tel came forth as a castrated TLD. I wonder how much of that is transcribed in Clapperton's book. At 7.95 GBP it looks priced right for the unsuspecting few that want to be taught how to use facebook, twitter and domain names.

telephones are outdated and mobilephones are in?
