For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Today I browse one of my website .com that have a listing of businesses including phone numbers in plain text.
What was my surprise to see that on iPhone these numbers are automaticly converted into similar of .tel, you can click to call.

Is this making .tel obsolete?

OMG! Apple must have stolen the click to dial telephone infrastructure that .tel invented!!!!

Oh wait.... It's been around for years. I told you guys long ago that anyone could implement it.

But it is not a big thing.
.tel invented nothing, it will or is incorporating everything tel want.
It is Walmart or Dell. Not Intel or Microsoft.

The tel: and callto: URI schemes are nothing new, and a completely separate issue from domains or TLDs.

I seriously worry about this place.

Totally wrong!
about 100,000 register for 3 years,
50,000 register for 2 years.
I have several domains was obliged to register for 2 years.
100,000+50,000=150,000.

Never heard from but still happy that there is interest at Sedo...

well not sure about others but i promote one of my .tel for my business as domains is just a part time hobby for me or rather a future saving/investment and let me tell you i am quite successful at it not only buy them able to reach me but its my only point of contact for anything related to my company they want to know

the best practice for people to know about your .tel

1) i am sure many people use signatures in email
a) just add your .tel to it and always keep it updated so your customer never look
for another when you can always be around or your support can assist them.
b) also add a tag line to your .tel ( eg :
i) Reaching us is easier now
ii ) .tel us anywhere and we will help you

2) incase someone ever calls you to ask your email or phone number/ fax number or any
contact information try to tell them if they can access a web just yourcompany.tel and that's
how it spreads more as word of mouth

A piece of advice, I would not drop this time.

There is so much improvements happening with the .tel domains.

One of the most important things will be the searchengine, that will let users search on a both the .tel they are on and on other .tels without leaving the "telspace".

well its a mixed review everywhere but then again many people or rather everyone who got .tel they were over night millionaires if once can become millionaire so easy why are others trying so hard in other fields
