Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Is there a way to see your stats for .tel?

I want to know if my Keywords are working.

Thanks for that...it was a little bit of an ordeal...and still not sure that is what I needed.
Unless I'm not reading it right...?

I have no idea what this is or how to see totals without counting each line,
66.249.66.103 - - [28/Jun/2009:12:06:20 +0200] "GET /lookup.action?domain=penticton.tel HTTP/1.1" 200 7134 "null" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"

Is there stats with numbers somewhere in there that I missed?

Don't know about you... But I have NEVER used "quotes" or the + key when searching on google... That's just me. If I want to google something,I type it in and hit search. So again, without quotes or any other "extras", type in .... Vegas girls ranches... Or ... Vegas girls brothels.. and you will see what I mean. :)

Dubdubdub is right. When you searched that term (without ""), google listed all sites that have keywords Vegas, Girls and Brothels on them, including yours. However, use of "" and keyword tool shows that there is no site otimized for that exact search, and there is no searches for that term at all. So, you are actually competing against no one for that term, and you have subdomain.domain matching that term, and being on 1st google page is normal thing.

Try registering HulaBulaDulaTula.com and you will be on first google page when you enter hula bula dula tula in google :). But to be on first page for terms "Hula", "Vegas", "Girls" - that would be a real SEO.

edit - I just saw this was discussed earlier, sorry for posting the same content :)

These are raw traffic stats.
One thing you could do is download them to your PC and perform offline analysis with a tool like Analog. I presume these are the web stats only.

Here are some stats I have according to dot tel owners I know:
65 percent are UK that I will include AU and NZ
15 percent US
10 percent CA
7 Rest of EU (FR, DE...)
3 United Arab, Quatar, India...

The UK is number 1 maybe because of Telnic Location and promotion campaings.

Correct, they're logs from the TelProxy. You can import them into any log analyser you like (Awstats is a popular choice), but there are also .tel specific analytics (TelSAP, more on the way).

We can't get any statistics regarding direct DNS queries from client applications or other services. All that really matters at the end of the day are click/call-thrus anyway, which you can measure yourself.

that's interesting. if someone mentions .tel at a party in london, i bet they might even get something back other than puzzled stares, which is what i get in my part of the states. we could use some of that promotion over here.

then again, steve, it's hard to know how authoritative your friends are as sources of information.

anyone else notice two .tel domains for sale on Rick Latona's newsletter today?

CellPhones.tel $1500
Houses.tel $3900

I think they will sell at those prices

just because 65% of domain owners are from the UK, doesn't mean it is more recognized by the general public in the UK

Yahoo filed for arbitration on yahoo.tel.
Domain Name Wire » News » Yahoo Fights for Yahoo.tel - The Domain Industry's News Source

Doncha mesa witha my .tel !!!!

.tel domain names during the so-called “sunrise period” for about $300. Arbitration will cost the company about $1,500 plus legal fees. LOL
This arbitration cost is dust for Yahoo, they might not be informed about .tel or being like some naysayers here but suddently they see their competitor having their .tel so we must have ours too. I've check bing.tel and looks like it's someone outside microsoft that owns, don't know if this is a concern as it must have been reg in good faith before Bing.com launch as Whois shows March for reg and bing.com launched in June. Reverse hijacking or purchase? No idea.

I don't know anything about .tel, but I just regged my first .tel today...

I regged TechSupport.tel...Techsupport is taken in every ext, so I thought I'd try my first .tel...I like the sound of it, not sure if it has any value....

Quite surprising that it was available considering the .tel lovers have been scraping the bottom of the barrel for months now. Some of you in this thread seriously dropped the ball.

I'm hard on .tel, but I'm not going to slam anyone buying strong keywords such as this for reg fee. The upside is worth paying renewals on for a few years and seeing what happens.

There are varying degrees of success for any TLD, and it's names like this that get the bump in value first. Whereas at least 95% of the names in the old showcase thread have little to no value unless .tel is a huge smash hit.

I agree that techsupport.tel was a fabulous pick up at this stage - well done!

I am not a fan of .TEL at all, but I do agree with others that this was a great reg, and if the extension ever takes off this type of name will lead the way over many of the turds I have seen in this thread.

Agreed. Tech support and names like this fit the extension .tel.

And the crazy thing about it is that his first .tel so late in the game is better than many .tel portfolios that have been building for months.

There are still an AMAZING number of .tel domains still available !

I have been shocked at the number of Service Industry names that are still available for individuals whose entire line of work can benefit from the .tel / keywords / branding.

top realtor
best realtor
best plumber
pro plumbers
debt counselors
tax pros

MILLIONS of Professionals, easy branding combos, yet there they still are !

(and after 9 months of availability)
