Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

I have 2 question for Henry:

1: why did you remove the graphic style menu when display on iphone? Now it's just plain text. It was nicer when at begining of we see these grey menu style on iphone.

2.: Why don't we have the ability to have an option to choose for telnic link or not like before. The telnic link at bottom can be useful for viral marketing.

Thank you.

1. Because it was a hack full of javascript that is too heavy for mobiles. It's all about speed and simplicity. On the iphone, download superbook, hopefully it'll come next week!

2. We'll add it back, but we're looking at making this an opt-out preference in your Telhosting panel.

I have a hard time believing some of these sales. I'm not calling anyone liars, far from it actually.

Deja Vu anyone.

Well.... what can I say... 2 weeks ago I was happy as I had my 1st ever sale on sedo, since starting domaining back in 2006. Now 3 years down the line I had to cancel the Transfer as they ended up being none buyer.

Sorry about your sale Jag. I just had a hard time believing a month old extension was garnering $X,xxx sales so soon. Although .tel is somewhat different, similarities can be drawn between past extensions (.eu - .asia). I envy your guys' optimism, but some pessimism can be useful in creating and refining your goals.

I do hope you get a nice $X,xxx sale, good luck %%-

$21 million dollars for a virtual business card with contact info?
That's a bargain! :]
Dude, people list names like this at eBAY to get the linkback (GPR9) without having the risk of someone actually buying the name at a low price. If the name actually sells, which the lister can't imagine will ever happen, it is like winning the lottery. Does anyone really think that they are going to win when they buy a Lotto ticket?

As far as I know, Name.com is still the cheapest place to buy .TELs.

Does anyone have the full list of ALL remaining LLL.tel's?
Is there a list floating around somewhere?

Thanks

I didn't know about that before.

Sure thing. I've tried this as an experiment. I've purchased two fresh domains, listed one at eBay and left one alone. The domain with the eBay link got into Google faster, but it didn't do anything for page rank nor placement in the SERPs. I only found the site because I was looking for it. Nevertheless, if you have an eBay store with a bunch of listings, you can get your advertising cost down to about a quarter a month. Even if the eBay link doesn't help a whole lot, 25 cents a month is still ultra cheap for a back link. :)

Target Keyword:
Mesothelioma $87PPC (actual pay per click rate for internet PPC)

$87 x 10 clicks per day on (Mesothelioma*tel) = $870 per day! :o

I'm not done..... Now let's multiply that by 10 naptr records per day:

O.k., since this is for mobile marketing, Let's reduce the price to 1/4 of original PPC rates ($21.75)for .Tel network Ads.

$21.75 x 10 clicks per week x's 10 non-terminal NAPTR records = $2,175 dollars per week for the owner of (Mesothelioma*tel).

Oops! Forgot to share this revenue with .TEL network $2,175 /2 = $1,087.50

Sounds good to me!!!
I used to do this same thing when I first got started in online business. I was this huge optimist and I would crunch fantasy numbers all the time, certain that big money was headed my way.

Then the real world slaps you out of la-la land and you make ten cents.

maybe my Nailsalon.tel will get quite a bit of traffic from Telpages?
The general public has to know about Telpages before serious traffic starts flowing, and that can't happen unless they run TV and print ads just as aggressively as the major directories. This seems unlikely.

I would assume all traffic into .tel profiles will be though self promotion and SE queries with little keyword competition.

I think viral is quite a powerful way to get the word about telpages out there actually. :ghost: :ghost:

Today, while doing some searches for generic .tel domains, I have noticed that many of them are still pendingCreate, even ones regged during landrush.

How much does it take to activate these domains so that owners are in compliance with Telnic's TOS? I mean, come on. It takes seconds to plug in some kind of contact.

At Domainmonster, all you have to do is configure your domain.

QUESTION for Henri or Justin: When will Telnic be enforcing this part of TOS?

I, for one, want to see all .tel domains active and functioning.

Having undeveloped domains looks bad for TEL. Undeveloped includes those just parked with the registrar's name. Even if you only plan to sell, add some content.
telNIC: give them a warning then enforce TOS.

Yes, definitely give a warning first; if one has a lot of .tels, one could slip under the radar.

Don't you guys think Ohio.tel should sell for more? In my opinion, $3-5K? What do you think?

I can answer to your question.

Today it's almost 1 month that dot tel went to public registration, we don't have any history sales on it compare to other TLD's so appraisal could be more easier.
What we can find is the actual market price for Ohio dot tel, also we don't know if was reg during landrush ($300 fee) or general.

The only way to know now for an accurate price is to find other U.S. States dot tel with similar population and ask how much owner of these states dot tel would sell for.
Now I'm sure none will sell for $1000 but over that price as U.S. states are all taken and there are only 50 states in the U.S.
With all prices that owners will give, you can add in excel spread sheet and calculate the medium price from it.
You'll find the exact market price for ohio.tel
Also this medium price is just valuation according to other similar dot tel and not taking account on economic, tourism, business, household incomes.. Adding these statistic can make ohio.tel or other state dot tel higher than medium price or lower.

Some will say that prices with over thousand are speculation. I don't agree with this as it's what owners ar looking for and buyers can afford. Of course you'll always find some domainers with speculation prices like xx.xxx,xx$ for one domain that is not as good as a dot com.

Hope that I answer to your question.
