Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
Ohio.tel was registered at landrush. I would expect all 50 states to be landrush. Just
check Telnic whois and it will show by the time stamp (and the fact it's registered for
3 years). I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one because whatever it goes for should be
sending strong signals as to how strongly domainers have an interest in this extension.
The first bid doesn't mean much right now, but let's see if it generates some action.

Today, while doing some searches for generic .tel domains, I have noticed that many of them are still pendingCreate, even ones regged during landrush.

How much does it take to activate these domains so that owners are in compliance with Telnic's TOS? I mean, come on. It takes seconds to plug in some kind of contact.

At Domainmonster, all you have to do is configure your domain.

QUESTION for Henri or Justin: When will Telnic be enforcing this part of TOS?

I, for one, want to see all .tel domains active and functioning.

OK, OK.
I, for one, am guilty of doing nothing so far.
Although I am super-busy, I agree that it definitely needs to be done and I will be getting on that in the next week or so.
I have over 400+ names so it will be a slow go but they will get done... even if there is only one email link on each to start.
And yes, pendingCreate does nothing for the extension.
Thanks to you and kprobe for being the "reminding factor". :great:

Are there any .TEL's that anyone has stumbled across that are ranking well on search engines for terms that actually get searched?

search
tristate area jobs
~ #7 usjobs.tel
tristate jobs
~ #90

longer tails will show near top

BTW, I have 100+ tel domains, and looks like most have been indexed. I have most of them linked from one tel domain which in turn is linked from 2 or 3 dot.coms.

Hi kprobe,

Thanks for posting, but I think Galel is asking for keywords that people actually search for.

For both Google and Overture, there are 0 (or at least near 0) searches per month for all the keywords you have listed above.

"Tristate jobs" 360 average searches per month on Google.

:bingo:

I'm not looking for "dog parlor in East Jesus, Tennessee" but terms that people are actually searching on a regular basis.

Care to share your best best 50 or so names from all those 400?

my site memoir[.]tel is on page 2 or 3 when you type in site:.tel.

I would not expect .tels to rank high yet, even premium terms. The search engines reward longevity.

It's really too soon to tel.

;)

The sites that are ranking on page one for highly searched terms of google have heavy weight incoming links to them.

Hi phase111,
I actually did post a list of 147 names earlier in either this or the previous showcase thread.
With all of the merged threads back and forth, it could be anywhere now. :-/
I'll re-organize a bit and might post some names later.
I see you've grabbed a few gems! :)

Good news, Name.com can transfer dot tel and tel hosting management now.
All you have to do it select all option and submit in the transfer page. It will create a new TH account.

This question may have been asked (and answered), but I did not see it.

I have some .tel domains. All are developed, at least minimally, and have my email address in them. Is there a way to change the email address to reference the .tel, but also have it forwarded, redirected, to my email address?

For example:

current email: [email protected]
to
.tel reference email: [email protected]

Cheers mate, I have about 110 names now in total. I just grabbed sandiegohotel.tel yesterday at name.com... not a bad pickup I dont think this late into GA for that name. Im still looking to buy really good premiums though.

FInished up with Cellular.tel.

Comments please to improve it. I may expand it beyond these US carriers. There are so many carrier franchised cell phone businesses all over the place. I will, at some point, reach out to these carrier franchise companies to see if they would like to be the one showcased company for each carrier. Thoughts?

I wanted to obviously 1st address my own back yard. This is a fairly large undertaking as I'm sure most are aware. If I see that there is going to be some traction, then I will certainly expand from there.

ne way... Nice Job TechZone.... if everyone would just do this we might make tel worth something....
