For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

You can't really dev a .tel domain, it's primary purpose is for quick and easy contact info. However, the way it is set up, it is possible to create a kind of directory site. That is pretty much it though as far as I see it at the moment.

After spending way too much time researching this issue, I believe the only viable monetization model is aftermarket resale (of the domain).

Exactly my point....

I hope the people buying .tel names understand that point. I have purchased a few names, but I am fully aware of the limitations and lack of dev possibilities. Not to mention the limited possibilites for monetization.

I'm lucky to have such a common first name and luckier still that I was able to get it at landrush pre-order.

I was named after Jennifer Jones, a very popular actor during the, uh, 1940's and 1950's.

I am waiting to see *real world* monetization of .tel domains ie directories that actually get visits and have paid advertisers. Good luck with that.

Couldn't Help it. Picked up Privado.tel (private in Spanish). Now to figure out what to do with it.
