Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Yeah.

I'll be transferring those domains out ASAP.

It's only two, thank goodness.

There seems to be a rule: the more expensive the product, the lousier the service (Think Netsol and Yahoo). The only reason I used them is because of pre-booking of landrush.

As much as I dislike GoDaddy (mostly those big-b00bed bubbleheads they love so much and their awful domain panel), I have never had a customer service problem with them.

In fact, I have had no customer service issues at all with GD.

Haha, yeah, the godaddy promo stuff is pretty ditzy and definitely tailored to guys (like myself)...maybe the founder's going through a mid-life crisis, lol...certainly likes to spice things up, I dont know if goddaddy's sex appeal extends to female's like yourself though ms Domainer and if it was me I'd want to encourage women to join up as well as men, hehe.

I can only speak for myself but I find it irritating and sort of tawdry. I'm about the farthest thing from a prude you can imagine on a personal level, but I expect a B2B service that isn't part of a vice industry to present a more professional face.

ripley.

The Dynadot pre-order system is reporting that every .TEL domain is available (eg. justin.tel, alt.tel). Must be a glitch. I did put an order in for one .TEL @ $10.99. It's back-ordered at another registrar.

Will be interesting to see if Dynadot is fastest.

yep, normally I'd be happy to see some hot babes in a bikini, but to promote skimpy girls selling a professional service or product is tacky at best and makes me kinda annoyed, even for a hot blooded guy like me.. :imho:

LOL, should I request a back-order for Justin.tel?

Gregory! Whats all this talk about pre ordering a .tel?? I've booked myself to an optometrist tomorrow in case I've read it wrong, I had begun to get the impression you didnt really like .tel, but it seems I may have been wrong. :hehe:

That was NOT on the order page, so for any ones that they don't get, I will be doing a chargeback on my credit card, and I will never register another domain with that company.

Tomorrow, they will definitely be getting a call from me.

I think they'll have a legal fight on their hands.

That needed to be clearly stated IN BOLD LETTERS on the order page and during checkout. I would have never preordered from them had I known that, given that I had already preordered the same domains from another registrar.

>:(

I'm not doing too well with registrars.

I totally agree with you, ripley.

VERY unprofessional to present a business in that manner. Every time I log in, I want to puke.

It's the main reason I don't go to domaining conferences. For God's sake, the Playboy mansion?

Jeez.

I'd rather have my toenails pulled out one-by-one than go to the Playboy mansion to see a dirty old fart surrounded by golddigger lightweights, who, after they lose their looks, will slide into obscurity.

I'm beyond eighth boys slobbering over pinups of women who act like dumb bimbos. Boring and sooooo cliched.

How many ways can one demean women and objectify them? GoDaddy does it all--a throwback to the 1950's.

C'mon, guys, you want more women in this field? The behavior of some guys in this field drives some good women away. It certainly has driven me away from attending domain conferences. A shame, too, because I could learn a lot at them. But I don't want to watch young (barely legal) girls being body painted by middle-aged men; it's tawdry and seedy. One never sees entertainment geared toward both sexes. One CAN have fun without using women as canvases for bad behavior; if I were married to a domainer, he would never go to a domaining conference without me. I'd be stuck to him like a fly on sh*t. Fortunately, he has other interests.

I say: get out of eighth grade and start acting like business professionals. That way, if you're single, you can meet REAL women--smart women with the brains to give you a run for your money and keep you interested with more than a pair of big (false) b00bs in a tight t-shirt. And if you're married, you have no business pawing over barely legal women (so, there).

Yeah, I think the owner of GoDaddy is at an arrested stage of development (somewhere in 6th grade, maybe 5th), just like that creep (who's a huge joke) at the Playboy mansion.

Rant over.

According to their info they will be 5 months late:

"TEL General Availability Launch

Written on: March 23, 2009

On August 24th, 2009 (15:00 UTC) the central registry for TEL domains will be launching general availability (first come first serve) of TEL domains.

PRICING

TEL domains cost $10.99 to register and renew, with no bulk discounts initially. After 2 weeks, the Bulk price will be $9.50, and the Super Bulk price will be $9.25. Regular pricing will remain the same at $10.99. "

Here are some surprise you can have with some pre orders: I've received following messages: 60 minutes are required between each domain names = if 1000 have pre order so 60mnX1000? and we need 72 hours to verify your card for pre orders. So if I pre order 24 hours before GA, I won't get my .tel? Lucky they don't charge it but might be painful for people loosing their .tel at pre order.

Now I have my sign in for Dynadot (who knows about Dotster?), but after I add my info I can't get the card to save, even after I activate it.

The page comes up as a broken link.

DNS overload?
