Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Ha! Viagra is for old men in rumpled brown suits and argyle socks.

Surely you young guys don't need such assistance????

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread: .tel around the clock, 24/7, .teling it like it is and what may be.

;)

Ms. Domainer, i wasn't pushing my link, you had asked how I was getting my Stats.

I was just showing you that. The stats are pretty good for a static page!

.tel seems to be functioning quite well, when the domain looks like this: diet.pills.tel

the search engines like to Slurp!

gnight all.

I was just yanking your chain, no scolding intended.

This is, after all, the .tel thread, where we can chat about our .tels.

I was really bringing myself back to the thread--I was veering off topic.

Hi Phase 111, I meant to answer you for the past few days, because I think that you said the most interesting and insightful sentence on this forum for the people who are still wondering where .tel is in relationship to any other domains: "ICAAN will not approve another similar domain using the dns for a similar purpose, this has been stated by ICAAN itself, so we dont have any worries there". If this is true, I will make many people angry to say that the .com doesn't seem that special anymore all of a sudden. For those of you who don't realize what is taking place in front of your eyes, don't kill the messenger. I will go away for the next few days to take a closer look at GA, but please keep this forum going because many of you guys seem to be very smart and interesting people....

Hi Stefan, welcome to namepros by the way! On these message boards you will find the good (telsters) the bad (naysayers) and the ugly (microguy)...just kidding, Greg looks quite the man actually with those 60s style glasses.. Anyway, it is quite important to remember that domainers as a whole, are probably going to be quite harsh on .tel- they are often in their own little domaining world and used to domains doing things in a certain way- telnic has really shaken things up however.
Personally, if this was yet just another lame new domain website extension, like a short lived and impractical domain like .Asia, I wouldn't have invested as much as I have (although it's no where near 70k, but glad you see the potential to invest that much). Im not sure to what extent ICAAN will stretch it's policy of not allowing a similar tld to compete, if you look at most website tld's they are 'supposed' to be for different things...for example, .mobi (for mobile internet) and .asia (for asia) ICAAN may approve .shop and .eco (as a lame example) because they are promoting different things on the surface, but ICAAN wouldnt approve say a .retail and a .shop extension because they are too similar (although retailers may still use .eco anyway for a green image) .
I'ts always possible that at some point in the future they will approve something vaguely similar to .tel (once .tel is well established and thriving perhaps) and it may even similarly run of a dns too, but as I see it, .tel would have already had so much traction in the marketplace, that it would be like comparing ebay auctions to BIDZ auctions- or .com to .net, it would probably end up being approved only as a niche type directory IMHO...so no, ICAAN wont be approving anything at all like .tel for at least quite some time...ICAAN are not 'quite' that irresponsible.

Have a good one!

BTW, I think its against forum rules to have link in signature which leads to site with aff content?

Direct linking to affiliates is not allowed, but there can be affiliate links on the site itself. :)

Yes, I am also wondering how you are tracking stats.
The .tel would show up as referer in the traffic logs just like any other URL.

GA tomorrow, I got around 30 pre-order domains.

How's about you guys? How many do you pre-ordered?

too long

I am a fan of breaking up directories into fewer top-level categories.

Doing it your way may lead to better search indexing, but for actual use, you don't want to be scrolling that much, IMHO.

In your case, you could break up alphabetically, a-h, i-m, etc or you could do it by car manufacturer home country, perhaps - American, Japanese, - although some ppl wouldn't know...

Hi guys/gals, just curious if that gap between words in the folder headings is going to be sorted out? Its just doesnt look very nice when you have "Northamerica", without a space and with the "a" being in lower case.

Happily this one's easy. Use a hyphen where you want a space to appear. When you logout, and thereby "publish", the space will magically appear, and the next word will be capitalized! Strange, eh? Telnic's user's guide says to use an underscore, but that didn't work for me. I contacted Domainmonster and they told me about the hyphen.

MY problem, if anyone can help me, is that I have listings for France but cannot find a way to use accent marks. This makes me look like a foreign amateur!

please comment on one of my demo for .tel

www.autoparts.tel ( click toyota ) and see what u think about it

A bit more housekeeping, if I may. When I click this link it just hangs up my computer. We've been told that .tel does not live in www and this means that you have to type in the url naked: "autoparts.tel". People visiting us will need to know not to type in the www, so we'd better start doing that ourselves!

I brought this issue up with Telsters a month ago and you can now get to the dottel either naked or by typing www. I thought at the time 90% of people would type www and then just give up. It's a work around I believe. There will be something else hanging up your computer I think.

The www CNAME works but it's superfluous, and I personally think it would be better if people promoted their .tel's without it.

It opens fast for me with the www. :tu:

Yeah less than 24 hours left.
I don't know if pre order is really efficient compare to manual order because if they receive thousand of pre orders, could take some time to registering batch process.

Also it's unfair for some other people who didn't get in time for pre order. All I can see is that many good domains are locked as preorder (no preorder possible) and if there is a great gem I'll or others will snap it for $300 and the guy who pre order wil have zero change to get it.

Fair game to me... If you want to step up for the $300, go for it. But usually there is a reason why nobody has already grabbed it for 300 and they are waiting to pay only 20 instead.

@calculin
I too am looking for some of those spainish and port. words. I saw a member (blogcash) do very well with that strategy in the dot me.
