Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The names that I hand registered at Dynadot I also had back-ordered somewhere else.

.TEL Landrush Applications: To determine the status of your pre-orders, select Domain List and hover over the egg timer graphic. If "Pending Payment" your domain has been successful. If the domain is no longer listed in your account, you have been un-successful. Most un-successful applications were due to pending Trademark applications from the Sunrise period. There is no way to screen for these before launch.

Hi Victor

I can't post to Namespro's unfortunately, but maybe you can post this
for me to help the community out.

You can tell if your .tel application has been successful by the message
below which is shown when you log-in to your control panel. If you were
unsuccessful then that name will not be displayed anymore. We were
pretty pleased with the launch and have been running in real time since
a second or two past 15:00 UTC for any current applications.

".TEL Landrush Applications: To determine the status of your pre-orders,
select Domain List and hover over the egg timer graphic. If "Pending
Payment" your domain has been successful. If the domain is no longer
listed in your account, you have been un-successful. Most un-successful

MOST names we didn't secure are essentially because they were trademark
Sunrise applications. Unfortunately the availability checker the
Registry provide us with lists pending Sunrise applications as
"Available". The only other tool we have as a registrar is a bulk
sunrise checker, but again this will only check Sunrise applications
that have succeeded and not pending applications. The result is that we
only find out a definite result when we try and register the domain at
launch.

Hope that inside info helps all and in general a pretty good launch for
us and hopefully our customers.

Rgds, Mark

It seems every pre-booking I've done didn't work. So I went to Eurodns.com and one of the .tel I want was shown as "available".. So I paid for it.

I received an email from eurodns telling "Should the domain name not be assigned to you, your payment will automatically be credited to your EuroDNS account.".

Hey, I don't want 345.00 EUR to be credited if they are not able to get the .tel.. I'll want my money back!!!

Anybody has a similar experience with EuroDNS? Do you think I will have my money back??

From Mark at DM

Hi Victor

Thanks for taking care of these posts for me! A couple of other answers
for you to comments I'm seeing...

1) It does appear that some registrars where having "Whois" issues. This
is pretty normal at "launches" unfortunately due the heavy demand on the
registry. We only noticed an issue for a very brief (less than 10
seconds time frame) period.

2) Funds on account with the Registry aren't an issue in the case of
.tel. They provided Registrars with a pretty neat solution to solve
this, so no registrar would of had this issue.

3) Domainmonster.com does not charge payment cards prior to launch. We
take a deferred authorisation (much like when you check into a hotel)
which exclusively reserves funds for our use for a short period of time
(depends upon card issuer). We then release this based upon how many
domains we secure for you right after launch and then you are charged.
More info is in the flow chart here,

I'll call my credit card and get the transaction refused. They clearly said "this domain is available" and this is the only reason I paid.

I just got a call from a guy at Domain Discover, said they were able to secure nearly all the names i had pre-regged. then i looked and 3 are the same that have already been secured at Domain Monster, so something is definitely wrong. i think probably Domain Discover is wrong. The guy actually told me they fronted the money for all the regs! That doesnt make sense to me.

Has anybody been able to modify their dot tel yet? I am on dynadot and can not find where the central DNS location is.

Judging by the availables, .tel is not off to a fast start.

Some prime names just sitting there waiting to be regged.
Problem is the high reg fee
The price will be reduced to around $15 per year and registrations will carry a one-year minimum term from 24 March 2009 (General Availability).

Are hacks any good? I personally like CanYou.tel and ICan.tel
I don't have the $$$ to register any .tel though :bah:
