Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

What's the difference between a .tel and a company about.html page on yourco.com ?

Interesting to see the Whois (on Dynadot): one of the names which I got during the landrush (through a reputed European registrar) is shown with the name of another owner! Let's hope it is a Whois mistake, although I have doubts.

The few other names I had registered (through that registrar and other ones) are all OK.

Did anybody else come across a discrepancy such as that one?

Disappointing that such mistakes can be made - I'd be interested in knowing what your registrar has to say about it. I do recall somebody else on this thread commenting that another member had claimed to have successfully registered the same domain as one of his during landrush.

Just confirmed that I got Jennifer.tel, probably my biggie (over 1,200,000 exact search volume per month, but more importantly, my first name). Vanity? Maybe. But I think I could create a Jennifer directory.

It's pending creation right now.

Maybe I can now ditch Jennifer.tc, which really doesn't make sense.

Too tired to do anything with my .tels tonight. I just got home from Macedonia--endured security three times, plus a bumpy ride from Zurich to DC, 80 mph headwinds.

The day before I left, a Macedonian friend helpfully let me know that MAT (Macedonian airlines) just had one of its jets repo'd (for non-payment) and is operating all its air service with one jet.

I hope he was kidding, but I wasn't too thrilled with that first leg on MAT.

Anyway, off to bed, where I hope to sleep about 12 hours.

:)

What's new, they will no doubt be very dodgy tm's that were accepted by .tel- happens with every new launch.:td:

I have written to the registrar, waiting for a reply next week.

Yes, I have created my telfriends account.

I haven't really tried it out yet.

Wow!

What's up with Dotster?

Although my tels show up in Whois, Dotster is still showing them as "pending."

Absolutely no communication regarding when Dotster expects to go live. Other than automatic "received" emails, no response to my questions.

Just...nothing.

NOT A GOOD SIGN.

I understand totally if a registrar needs more time to go live, but they need to communicate their timelines with customers.

Still waiting to access my domains.
I tried kerala.tel on my mobile and it's real quick to load; beats all the established web directories (Yellow Pages etc) by a mile for ease of access and speed.
Being able to bookmark the sub-domains for fast dialling is cool and further convinces me that dot tel is going to be a big success.

Get the my.tel app (you'll need a jailbroken iPhone, otherwise wait for it to appear in the App Store).. smart looking native interface + faster and more efficient than going over the web.

Before I dont have to download any app, it automaticly display in mobile version but now have to zoom on my iPhone and not really nice to navigate
Anyone have same problem? How to solve that?

We've now got the iphone to display the standard desktop web interface. We're thinking of moving it to the super-simple text version. I had a previous iphone-only version that mimicked native apps using some nifty javascript library, but I think we'll just make every mobile phone over the web use the minimalistic text-only version.

Speaking of the iphone native my.tel app, that app is for managing one's domain, not for looking up domains. I've got another "sampleTelApp" that does rudimentary lookups that I'll upgrade later to the latest features, when I have time. Also I think others will soon be putting out other iphone apps for .tel.
