Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Ms Domainer. I have been having ideas similar to your post above. Being new to this whole business, I look forward to seeing how your ideas progress. I have Elect.Tel and Choice.Tel, both of which are live, in a simple format, just to illustrate how they could be used. Any ideas or views welcome.

The fact remains, Justin, that Telnic was allowed to launch a TLD while still in beta mode. It's simply unheard of to tweak stuff, including DNS, template footers, URL forwarding etc. *after* .tel went live.

TelSucks or TelRules? ;) You decide.

Hire Story

I couldn’t find this “MELLOWWASHERSHEMALE” who post doubt about hire .tel

Hire . tel is in my account.
Please stop screaming scam about it.

Part1-This name applied by me for landrush registration via different registrars. Telnic awarded this name much later after landrush open on behalf of me to Name .com (may be many application for same name and they need to check exact timestamp to decide winner)
Part2- I applied few generic domains via Name .com but they didn’t allocate any domains and refund me all application fees.
Part 3- Few days later Name .com send me email that they have successfully allocate domain on behalf of me and I have to pay real quick again to get it.
Part4- I paid immediately and received the domain but still not sure why whois not showing my contact info.

123 .tel is not mine and nobodys either, I don’t know who is that “smart” guy to list it on sedo

QUOTE=MELLOWWASHERSHEMALE]omg hire.tel, someone paying $3k us for that . What a scam. Name.com owns it apparently and i reckon they have bidded on it themselves, i smell scam, what dumbscull would pay $3k for that.

HOW CAN 123.TEL be4 sale at sedo.
123.tel is an invalid domain according to the .tel rules.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS, IS THIS A SCAM ON SEDO??????
OR DOES TELNIC OWN 123.TEL

It's a valuable name IMHO. I bid on it but only 60 USD. They had USD 1,500 expected price on it but came back to me at USD 5,000. I think to get rid of me.

hire.tel would be top 10 IMHO. I would love to own it. Category killer.

What would you do with it? It goes to show they have no confidence in it as they list it immediately.

I disagree with this statement. It is not necessarily listed because of lack of confidence. It can be listed because:
1. Test of market.
2. Set high price while develop and if someone is willing to pay book the profit and on to the next thing especially in early stages while some bulls around.
3. Same thing occurs all the time in stocks. People "stagged" Google on first day for above reasons not because of lack of confidence.

Yes, I wondered this myself. Isn't 123 invalid?

I just find it interesting the guy trying for pizza.tel has a whole bunch of others.. shop.tel for instance. Are these trademarks valid?

justinhayward said:
As opposed to some who think we are withholding a huge amount of names, the simple explanation regarding pizza.tel is that it is still awaiting validation from a Sunrise application - check sunrise.nic.tel for other names. We hope the validation process will be finished shortly. Any unvalidated names that do not have a queue will be released on Wednesdays after the appeal window has closed. So keep checking at sunrise.nic.tel to see when this might be if you'd like to secure one.

On another note, as this forum seems to be mostly concerned with re-sale discussions, Henri and I are going to back away. If however you feel that you want further questions answered, please feel free to ask us back in either by DM'ing me or sending an email to [email protected]. As always feedback on features, etc is more than welcome there.

I'll also make sure that I pop in to post .tel-related news such as the updating of the applications or any feature changes that we're making after feedback.

He (amongst others) shrewdly registered a bunch of trademarks to take advantage of the Sunrise process, i.e. logos, or names like "New&York".

This was all discussed earlier in the thread.

Here is a head's up for all,
Don't press the Pay For It Now button to much,
I went to pay for a dot tel, it said it would process and it canceled it, I wanted this domain so I hit it again ,and same thing it said it couldn't process it, and again, now I have over $100 in pending charges on my bank account! Lucky I don't need that money for the next 5 days...
This dot tel domain name better be worth this hassle I'm in, lol
I have taken care of this with customer service and the domain is MINE, not only is the dot tel a last name it is also a city, woot

Thanks, Ader and DomainTalker.

Over the next few days, I'll be working on some possible configurations for those future customers, just to show what can be done and done easily (at least on my end. The customers still have to keep their communications infrastructure in place).

You have some good domains for this purpose, and your cards are along similar lines as what I am envisioning.

This TLD does take some thinking outside the domaining box; the directory idea may be more feasible down the road.

My .tel's

web20 dot tel

By the time i got on all the ones I wanted were gone - as i couldn't spring for $300 dom's. So I'm hoping these sell for a couple bones.

Google "Click to Call"

Google just launched BETA of Google voice which is a 'click to call' gmail API which allows users to call anywhere in the United States for FREE. They also offer low international rates for out of country calls.

If .TEL want's to survive, I would strongly recommend that developers get busy developing some type of search API within the .TEL framework to at least remain competitive or find out a way to implement this with .TEL.

Your thoughts,
