Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Hmm just got a few names in case this .tel thing goes well lol ;)

Although I am septical considering that you need to download an application and integrate it inside your iphone to call! It's easier to just get it via the net directly. But hey I'm am still a .com guy :)

Anyway I got:

Sexuality.tel :gn:
Hangup.tel
Appel.tel (means call me in french)
Finger.tel
Matav.tel (the hungarian phone comp)
Falafel.tel

Congrat to all of you that had other interesting domain names ;)

Well, registered my last name with "pre-paid" funds (thank God it's rare). Would have been awesome to have the first name... but I totally forgot about sub-domains. Works out even better now. :)

Here's what I snagged. I lost out on 4 and, honestly, they weren't even that great. I spread them out between DomainPeople (wished I hadn't), Name.com and WebNames.ca.

I am curious to see how this ext takes hold, with the new visibility on MySpace and the other sites. I will certainly do my part and share the link and video on LinkedIn. I encourage all to spread the word in their respective social circles. Let's put the blinders on, take a few more swigs of the colorful cool aid and spread the word. I think we'll all (Telsters) be quite happy to see the outcome that I envision in 6 months to a year down the road. But, in the mean time, I'll do my part and will build out some of these names BUT will also consider decent offers.......in the, yet to be created, .Tel sales thread!

Cheers!

After careful consideration, I've decided to drop HTL.TEL and get a partial refund.
I just don't have the skills to monetize it.
It's available for reg at your discretion.

Good luck .tel investors.

This is crazy ... keeping up with this thread! :yell:

It may be time for a new highly brandable .TEL Forum™ here on our #1 Namepros, IMHO. :lala: :talk:
Just my two sense.

Picked up a few in GA, even though I think this is incredibly speculative.

riyadh.tel
tehran.tel
dongguan.tel
saintpetersburg.tel
orly.tel (parisian airport)
gab.tel

ripley.

I don't understand a lot of the .tel registered!

Take this example: downloadMp3Music.tel (it's not registered, it's just an example).

Domains like this don't fit the .tel extension at all IMO! The .tel TLD is first made to list contact information. downloadMp3Music.tel makes no sense knowing that. downloadMp3Music.[com/net/org/ccTLD] are way, WAY, better.

I think .tel shines for only 3 uses:

1) geo (newyork.tel)
2) personnal (ben.tel)
3) services (taxis.tel)

Almost all other uses will fail, in my opinion. And a lot of people will lose money by buying random .tel.

Just my opinion...

Yeah seriously why not create a sub-forum? It's quite inconvenient having such a large thread - it cuts off interesting discussions prematurely. There are just too many topics of interest for one thread to satisfy.

"....tel will revolutionize social media and extend social networking features to cellular telephone networks.

The controlled access that .tel allows to social network data will accelerate the spread of social media among existing users and the previously un-engaged.

The contact-management tools of .tel will push friending systems out to the more than 3 billion people in the world with cell phones but who are not currently involved in social media. It will also render yellow pages, white pages and online directory systems obsolete.

there is a widespread lack of understanding of the importance of .tel domains for cellular networks today.

More than 1 billion .tel identities will be in use by 2013 if only one quarter of global cell phone users are included in .tel subdomains by their carriers.

The prediction of 1 billion .tel identities is based on trends in mobile phone adoption around the world. Parks Associates More about Parks Associates forecasts that by 2013 there will be 4.5 mobile phone users worldwide. This compares to 3 billion in February 2008.

The number of second-level .tel domains registered through 2012 could stay below 5 million, before taking off in 2013 as third-level domain holders upgrade to brand themselves personally, achieve portability and gain direct access to .tel privacy and friending features...."

So, I'm focusing on the social networking possibilities of .tel, 'cos this will only get more and more massive, imo...

I've regged a few social networking related names for .tel:

iChat.tel
iNetwork.tel
iDate.tel
iMeet.tel
iMatch.tel
iSeek.tel
iKiss.tel
MyConnections.tel
MyNetworks.tel

Issues.tel
Discussions.tel

Also, with an eye to sub-domains:

eg:

Susie.MyNetworks.tel - (linking to her friends/contacts over several social networking platforms)

John.iChat.tel - (linking to his favourite chat rooms etc)

George.Discussions.tel - (linking to his favourite discussion topics/forums)

Who knows if it'll be a good idea? Time will tel...lol

Give it a week+ or so, and then if we start to see inundation both here and in the Appraisals / Marketplace areas, I would suggest carrying this request over to the #1 Namepros Suggestions Forum™ for additional input from the community, IMHO. :xf.love:
In my experience, I think that's the way it's headed ... but, in fairness, they'd need to hear from everyone first! :talk: :imho:

All the best!
