This is another incident of how freemarket.com a.k.a. freelancer.com tries to deprive the hard earned money of unsuspected victims - the modus operendi being the same: The trick ALWAYS starts when its time they have to pay the money!
I was lured by the freemarket emails and website claims like "safe and secure handovers", "secure payments by freelancer.com", "lowest commissions", "free to list", "We sucure the buyers payment before you transfer ownership" and many what appears to be blah blah now.
I listed a few websites and domains for sale there.
Feb 24, 2015: I receive a mail from freemarket that I received a buy now offer for one listing from a buyer and if I agree I should accept the offer.
I accepted the offer and the buyer funds escrow which freemarket informs in their mail "XXXXXXXX has successfully made a $ 350 USD for your listing XXXXXXXXX.com. This money will be held safely until you have transfered ownership to the buyer. Please prepare any handover details for the buyer now"
Feb 25, 2015: I transfer the domain and the files of the site to the buyer and request the buyer to release the funds which he does and was informed by freemarket in their mail "Congratulations! XXXXXXXX has released $350 USD for XXXXXXXXXXX.com"
When I came to withdraw the balance, there was a notice that the funds are held for fifteen days for security reasons - thats fine I thought and initiated the withdrawal on feb 25, 2015 which was to be processed on 16th March 2015.
March 16, 2015: Till now there was no correspondence from either me or freemarket and I was waiting to see my money in my bank. But i was shocked to see my Withdrawal page, which shows a negative balance of -17.50 USD (which happens to be the 5% commission amount) the status showing "not enough funds" and the processing date a ridiculous Mon 5 - Tue 6 january 1970 (a date when neither I nor freemarket was born).
I opened a support ticket #WTI-732-95422 (this number is for the Tom Dick and Hary of freemarket who will be assuring falsely that they will look in the matter after coming through this thread, which they never do).
March 17, 2015: There was a hilarious response from the support team; "We found out that the withdrawal was cancelled due to chargeback. We could not file a dispute for the transferred website on your behalf but we would assist you to retrieve it completely. Please file a dispute with Godaddy for the matter."
So they found out that there was a chargeback after 22 days of the site being transferred, just after they were supposed to remit my money and asking me to file a dispute with Godaddy which was never a party to this transaction. Moreover everyone knows and its common logic, once you transfer the domain to another account, even Godaddy cannot do anything.
March 26, 2015: After repeated mails and asking proof there was really a chargeback at all, I got a mail stating "hi there. we have retrieved your money. You can now file a request for withdrawal again."
The account dashboard shows the amount and I ask the support to exclude me from the 15 days delay as I have waited longer than that. They reply "The 15 day delay is followed strictly by the department handling withdrawals. You do not have to worry as it would be remitted accordingly."
I initiate a withdrawal request as before and the processing date shows Mon, 13 - Tue, 14 Apr 2015 with status 'Pending'.
April 15, 205: HISTORY REPEATS AGAIN. No correspondence from either side and I dreamt that must be this time I will get back my money. But the withdrawal dashboard again shows the negative balance with status 'not enough funds' and the processing date 'Mon 5 - Tue 6 january 1970'
As usual I have again reported to the support and they are yet to reply, if they ever will.
I have documented each and every emails, screenshots of my account of every phase (banning accounts is also their common habit i learn)
Can anyone tell me a solution to this unnecessary harassment and how to get my money which I legitimately own? this is not only the amount of money, but also the mental torture I am going through.
For the Tom Dick and Hary of freemarket, if you care to reply, please, I do not need an apology or a sympathy, all I want is my money. inform me when will i get it.
P.S. Shouldn't I have titled this thread Did anyone ever receive their mony from freemarket.com a.k.a. freelancer.com after going through all the reviews all over the net about them?
