It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Can someone share how strict the restrictions are for .pro domains. It seems that a lot are being registered and sold, and not by professionals in the supposed fields. Am I correct on that? If I buy a few in various technology fields and professions, what can I expect during and after registration as far as enforcement is concerned, etc.? Thanks all, very interesting.

Absolutely formal restrictionsโ€ฆ
You DON'T need to certify the domains.
Use your diploma to certify yourself if requested by Registryโ€ฆ
And register as much .PROs as you can and in any fields.

russia.pro sold for EUR 3,500.- (Sedo).
Transferred to Hover.
So buyer is probably another domainerโ€ฆ

As with the absolute most of all my other sales.

But I'm happy about every buyer! And since I don't have the time to aggressively promote my domains, it's absoluteley okay if s.o. else is able to gain some more with them. I would be glad as well.

Greetings,
Kuli

I don't have anything against buyers-domainers. )
They help to better understand the prices for resellersโ€ฆ

Do .pro sites actually rank well in Google, Yahoo or Bing? Or is there a search engine bias against them?

I've been under the assumption there is a bias for anything less than .com, .net. org.
.Co is biased against in search engine, isn't it?

.pro in my opinion falls in the realm of generic extensions and can rank well if the website content provides enough credibility to back it up. (tech.pro should do well)

Watch this video on extensions by google.

Actually .co, .me and some others aren't biased in the search engines according to that source video I provided. I've got a few of my .pro's drawings as high as 520 visitors a month. Depends on where you fall in the search.

I highly recommend anyone listing their domains on Sedo or other platforms to consider http://www.domainnamesales.com

They have updated their search results and included .pro in the search engine options so that people can readily and easily search on .pro domains directly in response to my request through their forum and customer service ticket.

Alot of .pro sales happen through sedo...but I'm still going to recommend this change for anyone that is seeking a nicer sales vehicle for their professional domain listings.

Your request to signup at DomainNameSales.com/InternetTraffic.com has been rejected for the following reasons:

Afilias Limited requests the removal of the cross-ownership restrictions reflected on the .PRO Registry Agreement dated 22 April 2010.

If possible, would you please explain what the cross-ownership issue is about? Not sure I really understand the hesitation by so many domain buyers. Seems like people are inventing reasons in their minds to not participate with .pro TLD. The earth is still somewhat round, right?

Are some .pro thread readers too sensitive?

I attempted to add a post earlier this morning about a specific geo domain in a large California city that had changed from a .com to a non-.com TLD.

It appears that Jurgen Wolf didn't like the TLD of the non .com, I guess that's why he disliked the post and apparently Eric Lyons thinks the post was promotional.

The post was relevant to the .pro thread because there is much discussion about the value of non .com domains including the example that was presented.

If the members of this site and site moderator cannot accept a little conversation about a non .pro that is relevant to the .pro discussion in this thread, what is the point of this thread and blog?
