It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Yes disappointing, I thought it would go much higher too. Sometimes sending domains to Sedo auction works out, sometimes it doesn't. The buyer got a bargain.

dnjournal recorded the mobile.pro sale. I think there still is a huge potential for .pro to be very successful. Making big sales at this point is difficult, so although it was sold at a real value it still represents another .pro sale and that is good to see.

With the extension still growing with new registrants I hope we hit a critical point, where the extension become more widely adopted that should further increase the extensions popularity.

I'm still very hopeful on the prospects of this extension taking off.

ps. I got an etrade mailing where they were advertising etrade pro! When you see pro used in advertising it really boosts my confidence that this extension could be huge as pro is very commonly used as an enhanced or premium advertising word when associated with a product.

so although it was sold at a real value

It was sold at reseller value, at $2500 it really had me salivating, if I had the cash I'd have gone for it.

It's easily worth many multiples, why you don't see me selling any .pro, am not happy w/ reseller prices.

We're probably not going to see names attain full end user prices till the restrictions are lifted from the domains.

Though it's a lot better now than it was, there is still room for improvement.

Oh and an extension can't make or break you, it's the keywords you own, the extension is an additional factor in valuation, not the be all end all of domain prices.

Conducting a bit of a test. I am running a Classified Ad in SAIL magazine under business opportunities talking about [email protected]0 domain and website for sale. On the page I added a little auction script so anyone that goes there can just bid on it. I started it pretty high, but I'm aiming for an end user sale.

The magazine comes out mid to late November so I'll let you all know how it goes. Has anyone ever tried this?

===EDIT====
Do you think I should start it lower?

If you're going to all the trouble of approaching end users, quite smartly might I add, why start at lower than what you think you should get from an end user?

Hope the ad's not too expensive. :)

Good luck with it.

If it were mine, I would make sure autorenew is set to the "off" position and never look back.

Looks good because it's a four letter word and probably takes a million hits but try to come up with some end-user ideas. There's only one group out there that I came up with that it would work for and that would be a gov't ag office. So ... I'd pass.

Yeah I thought about that. But I used to do some design in that area and those geo companies can cover everything from groundwater remediation testing, compaction testing and a dozen other things. Soil could be tested for chem and mineral content or contamination, it's ability to perc, etc. but those are just two more things that are probably services of these large geo companies.

The easiest way to check would be to look thru the Yellow Pages and see what type of companies buy advertising under Soil. ??
