It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

With development pretty much any reg can be justified B-)
It can't Kate, I've been a developer since 1998, have wasted a lot of cash learning what I did. A crappy keyword is 100x tougher to promote than a decent on topic keyword and the costs do not justify the returns, unless you can build a business around it.

The question is, would Insurance.pro have any edge over Insurance.randomtld. It's a competitive keyword and being in page 20 in google is useless.
Now that's a toughie, I'm sure from an seo perspective, keeping the development constant, a .pro would outperform a cctld and most gtlds except .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz, but then what would insurance.tld cost for those top 5?

but there must not be a lot of .pro websites that have been developed real hard.
Nope, hardly any .pro has been developed the way it should, but its not surprising tbh. I learn't from you actually that staying ahead of the curve in this business is the only way to make money and it's something that has withstood the test of time for me. With .pro and a top 10 keyword like insurance or loan or mortgage, you're ahead of the curve imho.

In terms of getting value in multiple domain auctions, it makes sense to go for the 3rd or 4th best domain and let the big money duke it out for the top 1 or 2 keywords.
Very smart strategy, thanks for sharing, I've done it a few times without realising it or actually pinpointing this.

I think what sdsinc is saying is correct. If a keyword is paying $15 a click, there will be 1000's of developers competing for the top 10 spots on Google. However, I do think Insurance.pro has an edge over Insurance.any because it is a gTLD which helps for SEO and there is a proven branding association between Insurance and Pro.
That is the whole point, if it gives you an edge, however little, you've given your development that extra boost to the next stage, ranking after all is a complex mathematical algorithm, every little bit helps.

To say these are endusers prices is purely speculative.

Nice!

I registered about 50 drops at EnCirca almost a year ago and for the most part have just been letting them age. I'm hearing about a lot of good sales but I'm not seeing any. I still think buying and holding is a good plan. There are a very finite number of good keywords. It's not as if someone's going to flood the market one morning and wipe out the demand.

Don't ask me how that relates to Dentistry.pro.

Where is it ? Can you send me the link ?

Yeah ... stand by and I'll PM the link.

Checking SEDO's domain search for HVAC I found hvac.pro is listed 634th of 639 domains, and hvac.de is listed fourth.

I would think exact matches in a GTLD would be listed first in anycase.

Here are the final .pro sales at Snapnames today;

RealEstate.pro $14,000
Insurance.pro $6,500
Mortgage.pro $4,300
Bank.pro $2,010
Loan.pro $1,800
Escrow.pro $750
Financial.pro $454
Realtor.pro $400
Litigation.pro $49

I picked up Mortgage.pro and Loan.pro.

I need someone to explain this to me. Andrew's list above are all Pros and all apparently from a Daily auction. In order to sell a name on SnapNames you have to have it registered at Moniker. As far as I can tell Moniker does not support Pros. So how are these Pros being listed on SnapNames auctions? Could someone please 'splain? :ghost:

Thanks
Chas

Encirca auctions their expired domains @ snapnames.com. Most of the list Andrew posted were owned by the same company.

@Andrew: Congrats on loan.pro & mortgage.pro. I was able to pickup homeloan.pro for $140 a few days later.

Chaz, these domains and the others are from encircas expired account.. I recently picked up Scotland which was dropped a year or so ago but kepted in the expired account untill now. So think they are technically prerelease domains since they keep there original date.
How can you get yours in? I'm guessing if it's possible without knowing someone at snap or
moniker. You will have to get on the phone;) To do so

suprised that none of these sales got posted on dnjournal? Hopefully next week. The .co's sales were suprising looks like they are reselling like .coms. I stuck with .pro over .co as I felt it was a better extension. but .co got a strong landrush where .pro is a much slower rollout. I can only hope that .pro will prevail in the long haul.

I think they will get posted on DNJournal but Snapnames wait until payments clear. My payment for Loan.pro and Mortgage.pro didn't clear until today so it missed this week's cut off.

Maybe they don't meet the reporting threshold.

The threshold was $2,244 so RealEstate.pro, Insurance.pro, and Mortgage.pro would have been over it.

I think we should ask that a forum for .pro be setup.

registry.pro brought out January report. Was wondering what akcambell's take was on it. With the string of higher financial .pro sales and apparant increase in overall transactions. Do you get the feeling that overall .pro interest is increasing?

Was hoping you could shed some light on the daily transaction range and whois activity and what this means for .pro.

Total .pros registered in June 2010 were up another 2.7% on May 2010 from 46,381 to 47,649. Growth in the last 4 months has been slow but steady. Whois lookups have grown from 267,691 in June 2009 to 440,917 in June 2010. There are still far too registrars selling .pro. The one or two new registrars sell at inflated prices with little promotion or interest. For example, eNom charge $39.95 for a .pro and have just 509 .pro registrations after 4 months of selling them.
